INTRODUCTION

01 SIEVE ANALYSIS
 To determine the percentage of each size of grain that is contained
within a soil sample.
 It is necessary to predict the quality and performance of the soil sample.

02 SLUMP TEST
 To determine the workability or consistency of concrete mix prepared at
the laboratory or the construction site during the progress of the work.
 Does not demand a long-time period to get the result.

03 CUBE & COMPRESSION TEST

 To determining the compressive strength of a concrete element.
 Determining the characteristic compressive strength of concrete material
that can be molded or cast.
 Shows how the material will react when it is being compressed.
OBJECTIVE

1 SLUMP TEST
- To check the workability of freshly made concrete, and therefore
the
ease with which concrete flows.

2 COMPRESSION TEST
- To demonsrate how a material will respond to compression strength.

ST 1. Place the cone on a smooth, flat and clean surface.
2. The internal surface of the cone is to be thoroughly cleaned and applied with a light coat of oil then
the cone is placed on the smooth, horizontal, rigid and non-absorbent surface and Provide material
for the concrete mix according to ratio weight as prescribed.
3.Stand or foot pieces throughout the test procedure to hold the cone firmly in place. Fill cone full

⅔ full by volume. Rod this layer 25 times, but not through the first layer. Distribute rodding evenly
over the entire cross section of the layer.
4. Fill cone to overflowing. Rod this layer 25 times also but not through the second layer. Distribute
rodding evenly over the entire cross section of this layer.
5. Remove the excess concrete from the top of the cone by using tamping rod or trowel. Clean over
flow from base of the cone also.
6. Immediately lift cone vertically with slow motion. Don’t tilt the cone during this process. Perform in
5-10 seconds with no lateral or torsional motion and Flip the cone and place the tamping rod
horizontally and measure the slump distance.

Conclusion
The conclusion about this lab test were shown below:

 Slump test is to check the workability of freshly made concrete, and

therefore the ease with which concrete flows.

 Compression test is to demonstrate how a material will respond to
