SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
2. How does Internet Over-usage negatively affects the students’ study habits, in
terms of the following:
SUMMARY
The excessive use of the internet is affecting students' study habits in three main ways. First,
when it comes to managing their time effectively, students generally agree that internet overuse is
a challenge, as indicated by the high average weighted mean of 4.00. Second, the impact on
Academic Focus is also apparent, with an average weighted mean of 3.95, signifying widespread
agreement among students. Lastly, in terms of Educational Performance, the average weighted
mean of 3.81 suggests a shared belief that excessive internet use is negatively affecting academic
outcomes.
CONCLUSIONS
For many students, using internet more than 3 hours a day really affected their study planning process. According to
the results the respondents uses the internet for more than three hours, furthermore of the results, Social Media usage
ranked 1 as the most used activity in the internet.
When it comes to Time Management, students who use the internet a lot find themselves procrastinating on school
tasks because they get distracted. They also struggle to complete assignments, end up missing deadlines, and submit
work that's not as good as it could be—all because they lose track of time while using the internet.
Additionally, the study highlighted how Academic Focus is affected. Students mentioned finding it hard to concentrate
on their studies, missing important lectures because of excessive internet use, and trying to do too many things at once
by switching between internet activities and studying.
CONCLUSIONS
In summary, spending more than three hours a day on the internet, especially on Social Media, creates
challenges for students in managing their time and staying focused on their studies resulting to poor
academic performance—receiving low grades from exams, quiz, assignments or activities. These findings
suggest the need for strategies to help students strike a better balance between online activities and
academic responsibilities.
RECOMMENDATION
To the Respondents:
1. For those experiencing negative effects on study habits due to excessive internet use, it is
crucial to recognize the impact and seek appropriate help. If you find it challenging to manage
internet overusage on your own, consider reaching out to a professional counselor or your local
community health center. Regular check-ins with a healthcare professional can provide guidance
on effective treatment options, including potential medications.
To enhance existing knowledge, future research should explore new elements contributing
to the negative effects of internet overusage on students' mental health. This could involve
investigating innovative strategies for mitigating the impact on study habits.
