And so it was with me, brothers and sisters.

When I
came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human
wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.
2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you
except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 I came to you in
weakness with great fear and trembling. 4 My message
and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive
words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5
so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but
on God’s power. 1 Corinthians 2:1-5
THE POWER OF CHRIST IN
OUR TESTIMONIES
INTRODUCTION
One source of happiness a genuine Christian should have is to
share the message of God’s love.
Because God desires peace with His people.
He knew that man don’t have to power to know Him.
Because men are dead to sin and are incapable of reviving
themselves.
Therefore sinful man should be convinced with the grace of
God using the believer’s testimony.
At first, how did God’s power manifest toward salvation in us?
INTRODUCTION
For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise
according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many
were of noble birth. 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to
shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the
strong; 28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even
things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no
human being might boast in the presence of God. 30 And because of
Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God,
righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 31 so that, as it is
written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
1 Corinthians 1:26-31
INTRODUCTION
Should we be willing to boast of the Lord when we are sure
that He will empower us?
“To boast” means to magnify Him and make Him known.
Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes
haste with his feet misses his way. Proverbs 19:2
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your
faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, 6 and knowledge
with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and
steadfastness with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly
affection, and brotherly affection with love. 2 Peter 1:5-7
How should we empower ourselves in our testimony?
1. Consider ourselves empty before God.
And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to
you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I
proclaimed to you the testimony about God. 2 For I resolved to
know nothing…
A. It means to be completely humble.
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with the humble
is wisdom. Proverbs 11:2

And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to
you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I

know nothing…
B. Just be who we are before God with all honesty.
As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the
word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit
with patience. Luke 8:15

you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I

C. Submit ourselves wholly to Him.
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to
present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable
to God, which is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1
How should we empower ourselves in our testimony?
2. Consider Jesus and His crucifixion as our treasure to share.
2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except
Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
A. It means the presence of Jesus in our lives is our life to the
fullest.
The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; You hold my lot. 6 The
lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful
inheritance. 7 I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also
my heart instructs me. 8 I have set the LORD always before me; because
He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Psalms 16:5-8
How should we empower ourselves in our testimony?
2. Consider Jesus and His crucifixion as our treasure to share.
2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except
Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
B. His crucifixion and resurrection are our primary motives to
share.
For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.
1 Corinthians 1:18
Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1Thess. 4:18
How should we empower ourselves in our testimony?
3. Consider the Holy Spirit to empower our testimony,
teaching, and preaching.
3 I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. 4 My
message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words,
but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power,
A. It means that God’s power manifest in our weaknesses.
But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is
made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more
gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest
upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

teaching, and preaching.
3 I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. 4 My
message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words,
but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power,
B. Our faith should be firmly rooted in what He can do in us.
“You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I
come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies
of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the LORD will deliver you
into my hand, and I will strike you down and cut off your head.
1 Samuel 17:45-46.

is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4
