History
• 1209. the year of the first mention of the name "Bistra" in historical sources
• Until the XV. century, the property was held by the Aka (Arlandi) family, and then as part of the
neighboring Stubic manor, it passed into the hands of the Henning family
• 1848. the beginning of organized education in Bistra
• 1995. the establishment of an independent Municipality
• 6,632 inhabitants (data from 2011)
• 125.73 population density per km2 (data from 2011)
Sljeme
• Sljeme is the peak of Medvednica, a mountain above Zagreb
• It is located at 1033 meters above sea level
• Sljeme is one of the favourite vacation spots for the people of Zagreb and many tourists
• There is also a ski slope on Sljeme, which is one of the locations for World Ski Cup races - Snježna

• At the very top is the RTV tower, 169 meters high, which was built in 1973

way that it is managed jointly by the public (local) administration and the
population.

• Oršić Castle is a baroque castle in Gornja Bistra
• With its design and spatial organization, it is
considered one of the most significant works of
Baroque architecture in Croatia
• It was built approximately from 1770 to 1775
according to the project of an unknown architect
• it was erected by Vice-Marshal Count Krsto II.

County, and he participated as a commander in
the Austrian army during the reign of Maria
