Czech Republic
• Czech Republic is located in the middle of
the Europe.
• Its called the HEART OF EUROPE
• It has over 10 million resident
• Capital city of Czech republic is Prague
• It gained independenc on January 1, 1993
as the successor state of Czechslovakia
Prague
The capital and the largest city of Czech.
It houses the president, parliament and
government.
The main attractions include Prague Castle, Old
Town Square with the Prague Asrtonomical
Clock, Josefov, Petřín and Vyšehrad.
Since 1992, the historic center of Prague has
been included in the UNESCO World Cultural
Heritage List.
Brno
• Its the second largest city in the Czech.
• It has many cultural monuments:
• Špilberk Castle and casemates
• Ossuary – is the second largest ossuary in the
Europe. The number is estimated at more
than 50 thousand.
• Vila Tugendhat – registered on the UNESCO list.
• Anthropos Pavilion – exhibition about the
oldest events of the settlement of Moravia and
the entire European continent.
Ostrava
• It is the metropolis of the Moravian-Silesian region.
• Its the 3rd largest city in the Czech.
• It lies near the Slovak and Polish borders with a view of the beautiful
Beskydy Mountains.
• The city was founded on the so-called amber trail, which was used by
merchants as the main route connecting the Baltic and Mediterranean
seas.
• The breakthrough was the discovery of coal in the second half of the
18th century, which was followed by the development of ironworks.
• Coal mining ended in 1994.
The monuments of
Ostrava
• Dolní Vítkovice area – Worlds unique industrial
area, where coal was mined and crude iron was
made, now there are guided tours here about the
making of the crude iron etc.
• Landek park – The biggest mining museum in CZ.
On the tour you can even lower one of the mining
cages to the shafts like a miner.
• National cultural monument Mine Michal - The
mining area has remained nearly unchanged since
1915 and is in its original form - as if the people
who worked here left just yesterday.
• ZOO Ostrava - Found in the year 1951 and has more
than 4k animals. And of this moment it is also a
botanic garden.

• The Czech Republic is coverd from all sides by
mountains which make a natural border between its
neighbouring states.
• CZ has a beautiful and rich nature as well
as mountains
• There is a lot of caves in CZ
• Between the well-known and favorited by many
places belongs Mumlav waterfalls, Adršpašsko
Teplické rocks, Drá bské světničky, Pravčická brá na,
Tiské walls, Ještěd, Praděd, Macocha Abyss etc.
Monuments
• The Czech Republic has many cultural and
technic monuments.
• The National Monuments Institute takes care
of said cultural monuments in CZ
• Some monuments can be private and other
public.
Tradicions, habits and
culture.
• The Czech Republic has many traditions but between
the most famous ones belongs: Tři Králové, Shrovetide -
It is the last chance to eat me Easter, Hromnice, The
burning of witches, Dušičky - the celebration of the
dead, St. Mikuláš
• With traditions is also related kroj. Even in the not-too-
distant past, it was a very common part of the life of the
inhabitants of rural areas. The costumes are divided by
region and there is a great variety of them.
