Analysis
• What are the traits that are unique to you as a
person?
• What makes you think that those trait you
thought of are not observable to the animals or
other existing beings?
• Upon realizing your traits as a person, what
would you do to enhance it?
Abstraction:

What is a human
person?
Unlocking difficulties:
• Man – the general term commonly used to refer the entire human
race.
• Humanity
• Mankind
• Humankind
• Human – refers to a man as a species (Homo Sapiens)
• Person – refers to a human being granted with recognition of certain
rights, protection, responsibilities and dignity above all.
• Personhood – refers to the state of being a person.
• Human nature – the characteristics that distinguishes human from all
other creatures.
These special traits make a human a
distinct individual person:
1. Self-awareness – refers to the person having a clear perception of
oneself, including his or her own thoughts, emotion, identity, and
actions.
2. Self-determination – refers to the capability of persons to make
choices and decisions based on their own preferences, monitor and
regulate their actions and be goal-oriented and self-directed.
3. Externality – the capability to reach out and interact with others
and the world.
4. Dignity – the innate right to be valued or respected.
Application: Oral Recitation
How will you uphold the dignity of human person in the following
situation?
1. Your classmates are teasing your cross-eyed classmate because they
find her funny looking.
2. Your friend confided in you that his girlfriend told him that she was
pregnant. He is asking your advise on what to do?
3. You discover that your 4-year-old sister likes to draw and daydream.
She shows you a drawing of a green flying elephant which tells you is
her imaginary friend.
4. Your teacher invites you to join him in an outreach program where you
will be spending the whole summer break helping impoverished
communities.
