Introduction

I am John Lazar Johnson, I was born in I had a great desire to become a filmmaker. I found
2003. There are so many factors that out that to become a good filmmaker, I should have
affected me in my life that made me great life experiences, great perceptions, culture
take certain decisions which brought and many more and the only way to achieve this is
me till here. From an early age I had a by travelling. This is the main reason for me to
great love for cinema. I enjoyed choose tourism in the first place.
cinema so much, and it influenced me
so much. For me cinema was
everything to me, it was like I could
relate a lot, I could feel a lot, like I
could experience a lot. I do not know
how to say how much I was into
cinema. After watching certain movies,
I have feelings like, ‘this movie was
made for me’ or like ‘why didn’t I
watched this earlier.’

Cinema has held me in many tough

times, helped me to move on and
search for greater meanings in life. It
is like the dialogue “With every good
movie I watch, I feel reborn” said in
Abbas Kiarostami’s movie Close-up
released in 1990. Movies always made
sense to me and always had a
wonderful place in my life. The
interest in cinema in me made my
mind to make cinema.

From the movies I have seen, the first thought came to me was to travel the world, explore the world, explore different people, discover new
culture, have new experiences, discover new perspectives, watch life from a different angle. Movies like ‘Into the wild’, ‘Midnight in Paris’, ‘Bucket
List,’ ‘Secret Life of Walter Mitty', 'Before Sunrise’, ‘Motorcycle Diaries’, ect have inspired and influenced a lot to travel. The Malayalam Movie
‘Charlie’ by Martin Prakkat was the first movie to inspire and influence, as the movie character Charlie is a vastly different person from others as
he is a Gypsie, who travels like wind as no one knows when he arrives and when departs. And he is the type of person who does not have a
mobile phone or social media, or any type of contact details. More that this movie, the one which really stroked me was the lines from the movie
‘Iblis’ by Rohith VS, as in the climax of the movie the actor says to the lead actor that ‘ there is no point in education, if we really want to learn
something, we really need to travel around, only by travelling we could learn and observe things. By travelling we meet so many different people,
we see various places, we dicover different customs, cultures, we see people who eat dogs, people who walk through fire, ect’. These lines have
changed my perception and have influenced my life very much.
