ON IT

WHAT IS PATRIOTISM?
• A standard dictionary’s definition simply would read “love for
one’s country”. While it may capture the essence of the meaning,
there are many more layers to the word patriotism, and needs to
be expanded upon a lot. In my opinion, patriotism has multiple
parts to it, such as the dictionary meaning, to love one’s country,
and also the following:
A personal identification with the country.
Concern for the prosperity of respective country.
Willingness to sacrifice/take initiative for the betterment of respective
country.
• The debate about patriotism and nationalism is often hurt by lack of clarity
PATRIOTISM VS. because they are indistinguishable from each other. Many authors use the
two terms as synonyms. Some do not make the distinction in a less useful
NATIONALISM way. In the 19th century, nationality was contrasted with patriotism as love
and instinct for moral relations. Nationality is "our racial coalition",
"natural or physical only", and patriotism is the recognition of our moral
obligation to the political community. In the 20th century, the exact
opposite was done, presenting nationalism as a full-fledged philosophical
and political doctrine about the state as the basic unit of mankind where
individuals can find freedom and fulfillment, and patriotism as nothing but
a sentiment of affection towards one's respective country.
• So, what is the purest form of patriotism in our constitutional republic if we can get rid of all

MY OPINION ON the nationalists amidst us who are still trying to become the ruling class elite? In short, the
answer is action, not words.

PATRIOTISM • This is a clear intention to free our fully empowered citizens to do business in the private and
civil spheres, while everything is fundamentally equal in the public sphere. was. Our
achievements as productive workers, community contributors, moral advocates, resource

AND managers, and citizens working on the freedom and equality of all are to our love for our
homeland and our fellow citizens. It is a proof of gratitude. This is the purest form of
patriotism.

NATIONALISM • Nationalism, like many things, has its pros and cons. Nationalism can unite people and
overcome local and regional prejudices. Break down ethnic and religious differences, bring
people together, and look beyond the events that affect only their region. Looking at all the
conflicts and fears that arise from tribalism and religious or ethnic differences, it seems not so
bad for me to unite people under the identity of the people. Next, there is the bad side. Only the
deficiencies of tribal and religious or ethnic identities are transferred from rural to national
stages, he gains a larger spotlight and enables easier and faster recovery. History, sadly, is full
of this example, almost like a double-edged sword. The same is true for science. Science is
involved in efforts to cure illness and combat climate change to all extent and is also involved
in the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
