AND X-RAY WAVE Presented By: Group 3 Science – 10 Quartz DID YOU KNOW?
X-rays have much higher energy and much
shorter wavelengths than ultraviolet light, and scientists usually refer to x-rays in terms of their energy rather than their wavelength. SOURCE OF ULTRAVIOLET RAY
•Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is a form of
non-ionizing radiation that is emitted by the sun and artificial sources, such as tanning beds. SOURCE OF X-RAY WAVES
•Can come from natural sources, such as radon
gas, radioactive elements in the earth, and cosmic rays that hit the earth from outer space. CHARACTERISTICS OF ULTRAVIOLET RAY •Has shorter wavelengths than visible light.
• This means that UV light has a higher
frequency than visible light.
• It is categorized as electromagnetic radiation
with wavelengths between 10 and 400 nanometers (nm). CHARACTERISTICS OF X-RAY WAVES •They have a shorter wavelength of the electromagnetic spectrum. Requires high voltage to produce X-Rays.
•They are used to capture the human skeleton defects.
•They travel in a straight line and do not carry an electric charge
with them.
•They are capable of travelling in a vacuum.
Difference between ultraviolet ray and x-ray waves
• x ray it can both benefical & dangerous biological
effects. This ionizing radiation penetrate the living tissues can destroy living cells, chromosomal aberrations and carcinogenic effect. uv ray exposure to uv rays can cause premature aging of the skins and signs of sun damage such as wrickles. WAVELENGTH, FREQUENCY AND ENERGY OF ULTRAVIOLET RAY
•Ultraviolet radiation is a type of electromagnetic
radiation with a frequency from 30 PHz to 750 THz and a wavelength from 10 nm to 400 nm. WAVELENGTH, FREQUENCY AND ENERGY OF X-RAY WAVES
•X-rays have wavelengths ranging from 0.01 to 10
nanometers, frequency ranging from 30 petahertz to 30 exahertz (31016 Hz to 31019 Hz), and energy ranging from 100 eV to 100 keV. BENEFIT OF ULTRAVIOLET RAY
•Beneficial effects of UV radiation include the
production of vitamin D, a vitamin essential to human health. Vitamin D helps the body to absorb calcium and phosphorus from food and assists in bone development. BENEFITS OF X-RAY WAVES
•Noninvasively and painlessly help to diagnose disease
and monitor therapy.
•Support medical and surgical treatment planning.
•Guide medical personnel as they insert catheters,
stents, or other devices inside the body, treat tumors, or remove blood clots or other blockages. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING!!! Presented by: Group 3 X- Quartz
