THE CONSERVATION OF
ENERGY
•ENHANCING THE QUALITY OF LIVES
•SAVING THE DECLINING STATE OF THE GLOBE
IS THERE AN ENERGY IN
EVERYTHING?

• Paano mo nasabi? (How can you say so?)

• Ay weh? (Are you sure?)
OBJECTIVES

• To explain the definition of fossil fuels.

• To discuss the formation of crude oil, coal, and natural gas.
• To identify the uses of crude oil, coal, and natural gas.
• To suggest ways of conserving electricity, gasoline, and diesel oil.
• To produce an interactive environment among students
• To enact the lecture in arts.
THE FOSSIL FUEL
Fossil fuel are made from decomposing plants and animals that died million years ago.
These fuels are found in the Earth’s crust and contain carbon and hydrogen, which can be burned
for energy.
They are the world’s primary source of energy that provide most of the energy support in
transformation, electricity and industries.
Fossil fuel are natural and finite resources that are very abundant and has a cheapest resources of
energy compared to the other resources present on Earth.
Coal, oil, and natural gas are examples of fossil fuels.
• Fossil Fuel, including oil, coal, and natural gas are considered as non-renewable energy
resource because it take million years to form.
THE FORMATION OF CRUDE
OIL, COAL, AND NATURAL
GAS
USES OF COAL, NATURAL GAS, AND
CRUDE OIL
Coal uses- coal is very commonly used today to produce electricity. Coal is also used in iron and steel
production , cement manufacturing, in the production of coal tar, home heating, and any number of
industrial application that require heat.

Oil Uses -crude oil and other liquids produced from fossil fuels are refined into petroleum products. When
petroleum is refined, its various chemical parts are separated and some become gasoline, lubricants, asphalt,
and others the raw materials for plastic and rubber and many more things.

Natural Gas-natural gas is used to produce steel, glass, paper, clothing, brick, electricity, and other as an
essential raw materials for many common products. Some products that use natural gas as a raw material
are: paints fertilizer, plastics, antifreeze dyes, photographic film, medicine and explosive.

CONSERVATION OF ELECTRICITY

Turning off the lights when leaving a room

✓ A basic habit to develop and foster is to make sure that you always turn off the lights when leaving a room. You can save a good chunk of your monthly electricity costs by doing something as simple as this
regularly.
Use LED lights
✓ Many homes are moving towards smart LED lights as they not only look stylish and affordable but are also way more efficient than halogen bulbs.
Switching to efficient appliances
✓ Maintaining and replacing appliances every few years will make them have less burden on your electricity usage.
Unplug devices
✓ Needless to say how important it is to unplug devices when not in use. Do not leave devices on standby but rather unplug them and save your electricity bill, and the planet.
Lessen water usage
✓ Some easy fixes to reduce your water consumption could be taking quick showers, using just the required amount of water while cooking and turning off running taps when unused even for seconds.
Keep the thermostat at a lower temperature
✓ Aim to keep your thermostat at a lower temperature around 17 degrees, this can make a big difference and save your energy costs. Using a programmable smart thermostat is even better. (To be cont.)
Use smart automated devices(Cont.)
✓ Smart automated devices can lower your energy bills even when you forget to.
Smart automation systems will detect when you’re no longer using a device and turn
off the power supply.
Use double glazing door
✓ Double glazing doors and windows are a perfect solution for a modern home as
they can significantly reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases from heating and
cooling thereby reducing your carbon footprint and also lowering your energy bills.
Cook with the lid on
✓ This is a super simple hack in everyday life to save energy consumption, by cooking
with the lid you are making sure to lessen the cooking time and water usage significantly.
Using smart meter
✓ A smart meter is a great way to see how much power you’re consuming, this will help
you keep a track of your consumption in real-time, and where you can reduce it.
Washing at low temperature
✓ Wash clothes at a cooler temperature and with a full load, you will be saving a lot of
water and electricity.
Solar-powered devices
✓ These days you can find a solar-powered version of almost any electronic you use
CONSERVATION OF GASOLINE

1. Drive Sensibly. Aggressive driving (speeding, rapid acceleration, and

braking) wastes gas.
2. Observe the Speed Limit.
3. Remove excess weight.
4. Keep your engine properly tuned.
5. Keep tires properly inflated.
6. Use the recommended grade of motor oil.
CONSERVATION OF DIESEL OIL

1. Proper servicing of vehicle for a recommended interval of time is essential.

2. Recommended air pressure in the tires is most essential for reducing fuel consumption.
3. Drive your vehicle in a proper gear with respect to the speed.
4. Drive in 5th gear outside the city area where the road is free from all obstacles.
5. At the traffic junction, stop the vehicle from idling and watch the digital traffic timer for smooth start before 3 seconds.
6. Always follow the smooth main road then the muddy road.
7. Time to time check for adulteration of kerosene in petrol.
8. Avoid overcrowding of your vehicle.
9. Before starting, fix your destination and then plan your nearest and easiest road way.
10. Over speed increases fuel consumption as well as the deterioration of mechanical parts of a vehicle.
11. Avoid car AC as far as possible, air condition enhances fuel consumption.
12. Avoid following unfamiliar route, if it happened to follow the new route, in that circumstances kindly take some advise from the person familiar to that route. By doing so, you need not return back for the search of destination.
13. Do not overfill the oil tank beyond the recommended capacity.
14. After filling petrol or diesel check the lid for properly closed or not.
15. Park your vehicle in a shade area, parking in hot sun may increase the evaporation and hence loss of fuel.
