Introduction

The ecosystem is a complex, interconnected network comprising


biotic and abiotic elements. Biotic elements include all living
organisms such as plants, animals and microorganisms. Among all
biotic elements, Flora and Fauna are the most fascinating ones.
FLORA
FLORA
• Flora is all the plant life present in a
particular region or time, generally
the naturally occurring native plants.
India is the home for a vast range of
climate, topology and environment,
which has resulted in a boom in the
number of species of plants and
flowers in India. There are more than
18000 flowering plants and around
30,000 plant species in our country.
CROWN OF THORNS
CROWN OF THORNS plant (Euphorbia
milii) ,is a bushy slow growing
succulent plant native to Madagascar
and India. According to a legend, a
crown of thorns plant got its nickname
after it was associated with the crown
of thorns worn by Jesus.
HIBISCUS
Hibiscus is a genus of flowering plants in
the mallow family, Malvaceae. The
genus is quite large, comprising several
hundred species that are native to warm
temperature, subtropical and tropical
regions throughout the world. The
flowers are large, conspicuous, trumpet-
shaped, with five or more petals
DAHLIA
DAHLIA is a genus of bushy, tuberous
herbaceous perennial plant native to
Mexico, Central America and India.
There are 42 species of dahlia with
hybrids commonly grown as dgarden
plants.
ICE PLANT
ICE PLANT, scientifically called
Mesembryanthmum crystallinum,
native to the Mediterranean
region, having fleshly leaves that
are covered with glistening
vesicles and are sometimes eaten
as greens
ZINNIA
ZINNIA is a genus of plants of
the sunflower tribe within the
daisy family. They are native to
scrub and dry grassland in an
area stretching from the
southwestern United States to
South America, with a centre of
diversity in Mexico and India.
They are notable for their
solitary long stemmed flowers
that come in variety of bright
colours.
FAUNA
FAUNA
The animals found in a particular region make up the
fauna of that region. India’s fauna consists of 400
species of mammals, more than 1200 species of birds
and more than 60000 species of insects. In addition,
there are also fish, amphibians, reptiles and many
other kind of animals.
CROCODILE
CROCODILES are generally large,
ponderous, ambitious animals of
lizard - like appearance. These
are mainly found throughout the
tropics in Africa, Asia, America
and Australia.
ELEPHANT
ELEPHANTS are mammals of the
family Elephantidae and are the
largest existing animals. They are
scattered throughout the sub-
Saharan Africa, South Asia and
southeast Asia and are found in
different habitats including
savannahs, desert, forest etc.
MONKEY
MONKEY is a long tailed animal
that lives in hot regions like in
the tropical rain forest of Asia,
Africa and South America , and
also in Savannahs of Africa.
Most of the species are active
during the day. They are also
known for there intelligence.
GIANT PANDA
GIANT PANDA, also known as
panda bear is a bear native
to south central China. It is
characterized by large , black
patches around its eyes, over
the ears and across its round
body.
PEACOCK
PEACOCK also called peafowl, are
the species of resplendent birds of
the pheasant family, Phasianidae.
The males are called peacock and
the females are called peahens .
They are best known for their eye
spotted tail feathers or plumage .
BLACK BACKED GULL
The great black backed gull, is the
largest member of the gull family. It
has a white head, neck, dark grey
wings and back , pink legs and yellow
bill. It is a very aggressive, hunter,
pirate and scavenger. It breeds on the
European and North American coasts
and Islands of the North Atlantic.
