Features and Structure of the Reaction Paper

La Casa de Papel is a Spanish television series that can be

streamed on Netflix. In the first two seasons, it follows a
group of robbers who are trying to pull off a heist in the
Royal Mint of Spain with an elaborate plan by a character
named The Professor. His team of robbers are all criminals
who have cities as their code names.

One aspect of the series that is commendable is the

tension it brings to the audience. The narratives and
action can be stressful, but they also make it hard to
stop watching. The audience is pushed more and
more to the edge of their seats with each episode
because the characters are able to give the illusion to
viewers that they are watching events in real time.

The audience is there with the members, trying to pull

off the heist. Even though it is stressful, it is worth
every minute watching it. The chemistry of the cast is
also commendable. The team of robbers led by the
professor show each other a range of emotions, and
the audience finds themselves picking sides.

However, no matter how much bickering and coup

d’etats the team experiences, their main goal is to
defeat the police. At the end, watching the robbers
successfully do the job is satisfying. Ironically, the
bad guys are the heroes of the series, and the police
are portrayed to be the enemies.

Wanting the robbers to succeed over law

enforcement also provides a kind of tension, but it is
a key aspect to La Casa de Papel. The audience finds
themselves choosing another side: definitely not the
police and their faulty system. That “manipulation” is
incredible, and La Casa de Papel truly plays it off
perfectly.
