YOUR ACTION AFFECTS THE

ENVIRONMENT: WE CAN HELP SOLVE

CLIMATE CHANGE

Quarter 4: Lesson 2
• Our environment has suffered a lot just to satisfy our wants
and needs.

• We have created the problem then probably we also should

find ways and means to find for the solutions.
DIRECTIONS: Match the picture with its corresponding description of
the 4Rs in waste management.

RECYCLE REUSE REFUSE

REDUCE
Here are Simple Things We Can Do to Help Protect the Earth
according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration:

1. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle + Refuse 9. Don’t send chemicals into

2. Volunteer our waterways
3. Educate 10. Bike more
4. Conserve Water
5. Choose Sustainable
6. Shop wisely
7. Use long-lasting light bulbs
8. Plant trees
1. REDUCE, REUSE AND RECYCLE + REFUSE

Reduce – if possible, we must stop buying for items with so much

plastic packing.
Reuse – cut down on what we throw away, we might probably be able to
still use it.
Recycle – plastics can also serve as nursery pots rather than just
throwing it and adding piles for our community landfill space.
Above all, practice the bigger “R” – REFUSE. If we can bring with us
containers for food items, we probably can stop production of plastic
waste.
2. VOLUNTEER

We can spare our time to volunteer for coastal clean-up and

other clean-ups in our respective community. We also all
can volunteer to get involved in protecting our watershed by
tree planting.
3. EDUCATE

When we further our own education, we can help others

understand the importance and value of our natural
resources. We also can attend symposia and information
drives on environmental protection.
4. CONSERVE WATER
3. EDUCATE

The less water we use, the less runoff and wastewater that
would eventually end up in the ocean. Waters from doing
laundry can also be used in cleaning our comfort rooms than
just throwing it.
5. CHOOSE SUSTAINABLE

Learn how to make smart food choices. Eating leafy

vegetables are far better than meat. Why? We will just
perhaps hurt horse radish (malunggay) tree for a plain native
soup but we have to kill a chicken in order to have a fried
chicken for breakfast.
6. SHOP WISELY

Buy less plastic and bring a reusable shopping bag. Choose

to buy items which uses less plastic.
7. USE LONG-LASTING LIGHT BULBS

Energy efficient light bulbs reduce greenhouse gas

emissions. Stop using the old light bulbs for it is costly on
consumption. Rather use LED bulbs. Also flip the light
switch off when you leave the room!
8. PLANT TREES

Trees provide food and oxygen.

They help save energy, clean the air,
and help combat climate change.
During high noon, many would
want
to stay under the shade of a tree,
but nobody cares to plant a tree.
9. DON’T SEND CHEMICALS INTO OUR WATERWAYS

Choose non-toxic chemicals in the home and office. Throw

waste properly. Better acids should be thrown anywhere.
10. BIKE MORE

Drive less. Pollution comes in the moment we start the

engine of our motorcycles and automobiles. Biking or
walking helps the environment and it even makes us
healthier.
