Vermiform Composting
(in small scale at home)
Observation
(Prepared by: Namrata)
 Observation was done for six consecutive weeks.
 The changes are explained respectively.
First week
 The required organic matters and
earthworms were introduced in the
container in the first week
and no any change was observed
Second week
 No any change was observed
Third week
 A slight change was observed
in the texture of the matters
 The container was kept in the room
to prevent from direct sunlight.
Fourth week
 The container was kept outside
in the sun so that the temperature
would be optimum.
 This was done because not much
change was observed due to
cold environment.
 No change was observed this week.
Fifth week
 Due to the warm environment
and moisture, more changes were
observed.
 The matter was slightly
decomposed by
the earthworms.
Sixth week
 Due to the warm environment
and moisture, more changes
were observed.
 The organic matter was completely decomposed by
the earthworms.
 Growth of some tomatoes was seen.
[The changes were not as expected may be because of
less earthworms and the winter season]
