 Our dependence on imported energy is increasing day by day
endangering our political independence.

 Our net oil import bill has crossed Rs 900,000 Crores mark.

 We are going to be dependent on nuclear fuel.

 We spend about 30 % of our budget to meet the energy

demand.

 We are also importing Coal

 By saving and sharing with the deprived population we will be actually
helping ourselves!

 With the electricity availability, the working hours will increase and
demand for electrical and electronic goods in villages will grow. This will
lead to indirect increase in demand of Steel, Aluminum, Copper, cement
etc having a cascade effect. Thus, effectively creating a huge market
helping the country’s economy leading to increased income for all of us!

 Better economic conditions in the villages will minimize the migration of

villagers in to the cities and may even get reversed! This will go long way
in de-congestion of our over-populated cities.
Having no access to LPG and Electricity, our rural women folk use firewood for
cooking and kerosene for illuminating their hutments after sundown. Both these
fuels pollute their humble dwellings.
20 % of world population without access to electricity lives in India !
Most of Rural Homes are still dependent on firewood for their cooking

POINTS TO PONDER

We all claim to be law abiding citizens but how many of us follow even the
natures’ laws. How many of us care for the Mother Nature?
 Forget the laws of the nature, how many of us willingly; and on our own
initiative follow the law of the land unless compelled due to fear of getting
caught and fined/jailed? Even life saving laws like ban on smoking in public
places/wearing of helmet need strict enforcement. How can we then prevent
criminal wastage of energy and resources without enforcing the relevant
laws and policies?
 If ‘Energy is Life-Conserve it” slogan is true (which indeed is) then aren’t we
killing the poor by depriving them of even bare minimum access to energy.
Can we be booked under relevant section of the IPC? Are we not climate
criminals too?
