Background and Rationale
This phenomenological study aims to ascertain and comprehend the experiences
and perspectives of student cyclists with regard to their everyday activities as
both cyclists and students. Cycling is getting more and more popular in the
Philippines, particularly in San Jose and Tacloban City, where it is now both a
sport and a means of transportation for students in particular. Cycling is
healthy, low-cast and low carbon alternative to motorized transport. As
relatively fast active mode of transport, cycling can overcome the distance
barrier of walking, whist also providing cardiovascular exercises and reducing
demand for motor vehicle travel.

3
The cycling renaissance has seen as increase in the number of cyclist in urban
spaces, and there is evidence of increased investment in cycling
infrastructure and cycle skills training in same places. Yet the number of
high school students cycling to school is declining in many industrialized
countries (Hopkins and Mandir,2016). A bicycle is something that can be
owned and is perfect for campus life. Cycling is a physical activity that
requires energy from body movements. Cycling can help to improve a
person’s intelligence to think and help him in his daily activities with more
energy in addiction, cycling can reduce a person’s disease risk like heat
disease and high blood pressure.

4
This is because cycling makes blood circulation smoothly, and thus the heat
will receive enough oxygen. A student who cycles can release his tension, and
thus reduce the encountered problem (Zainal et. al., 2019). The rates of active
cyclist to from school in San Jose national high school, the wide range of
cycling intervention in the literature show that this is a necessary research
subject. The aims of this study is to know the experience of a students in a
school based cycling.

Theoretical Framework
The Complete Guide to cycling Psychology Theory of Dr.Jim Taylor of
2023.Cycling psychology involves the study or mental process and behavior
that affect a cyclist’s performance. Many people are aware that the mental
side of sport can have the greatest impact but devote little to no time to
improving their mental preparation. This research is aimed at those who want
to find out more about psychology specially in cycling, with Dr. Jim Taylor
providing theory, real-life experiences, and activities to help how currently
think behave and providing some useful tools for improvement.

9
RESEARCH DESIGN
The research design of the study that will be conducted is a
phenomenological study. This study aims to understand thoroughly
and discover more about the behavior and conditions of a student
cyclist. In this study, we are dealing with the experiences and
insight of students that participating cycling.

10
Research Instrument
To gather significant and necessary information to one specific student,
the researchers need to search for the students that is participating in
cycling. The method that the researchers will use to ask question to one
particular participant is interview. Questions that will be develop to
fulfill the necessary information to the study. This questions are focus
on the experiences of students that is participating in cyclist.
