Objectives
 Infer the conditions necessary for heat
transfer to occur;
 Discuss the different methods of heat
transfer; and
 Give a real- life example of the three types
of heat transfer.

 Why do we use potholders when we are
cooking?

pots, pans and dishes.

 The heat from the Sun reaches us, that is
why we feel warm.
VOCABULARY
 HEAT
- is a flow of thermal energy
- the energy that transfers from a body with a
higher temperature to a body with a lower
temperature.

 TEMPERATURE
- refers to the relative hotness or coldness of
an object.

 THERMAL ENERGY- refers to the energy


or system due to the movement of
particles within the object or the system.

 SHORT ACTIVITY:
 Each group will be given a small ice cube/
chunk placed in a sealed container.
 The goal for each group is to make the ice
cube melt in the fastest way possible.
 Record the time it takes to melt the ice
cube/ chunk.

 SHORT ACTIVITY:
 The group who can make the ice cube
melt in the least time possible will be
declared the winner.
 Prizes will be given to the winning group
and to the group which has the most
active participation.
