Online Identity
- refers to the persona or image that an
individual portrays to others on the
internet. This identity may include a
person's name, age, location, interests,
profession, and other personal
information that they choose to share
online.
Dichotomy of the Self
-is the idea that there are two distinct and
contrasting aspects of a person’s nature, often
referred to as the “carnal self” and “spiritual self”.

 SEXUALITY
Sexuality is about your sexual feelings, thoughts, attractions and
behaviours towards other people. You can find other people
physically, sexually or emotionally attractive, and all those things
are a part of your sexuality. Sexuality is diverse and personal, and
it is an important part of who you are.
 GENDER
Gender refers to the characteristics of women, men, girls
and boys that are socially constructed. This includes
norms, behaviours and roles associated with being a
woman, man, girl or boy, as well as relationships with each
other.

• This has a lot of potential to lead to sexual exploitation

and grooming. Sexual media may also encourage risky
adolescent sexual behavior which is linked to an
increase in STI rates and unintended pregnancies.
Being exposed to explicit sexual media too early can be
really harmful for the adolescent population.
 Why is it important to learn about gender and
sexuality?

• Learning more about gender and sex and how we

see ourselves as a boy/male, girl/female,
transgender, intersex or somewhere in between,
can help increase understanding and help youth
establish their own gender identity.
