• A communication aid is anything
that helps an individual
communicate more effectively with
those around them.

• Communication aids are often

referred to as Augmentative or
Alternative Communication Aids or
AAC System
 People with severe speech and or
language impairment that impacts on
their communication success may be
supported by using communication
aids
 TYPES OF AAC SYSTEM
1.Unaided Communication
• Does not use additional
equipment
• Body language, gesture,
vocalization, and signing are
typically used.
2. Aided System
• Uses additional equipment
• Low-tech method
Simple, laminated books to
carry around few pages of
pictures or symbols
• High-tech method:
Pictures or symbols with words
and with alternative hardware
options to provide access.

• It is designed to help people to communicate
effectively and accomplish individual or organizational
objectives.
 TYPES OF COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES
1. Verbal Communication
- Can either be written or oral communication

a. Written Communication
- Comprises e-mails, chats, and text messages

b. Oral Communication
- May involve phone calls, video chats, aside
from face-to-face conversation

2. Non-Verbal Communication Strategies
- It is more on visual cues such as facial reactions,
body languages, and the physical distance between
communicators.

3. Visual Communication Strategies

- Can be seen through signs, web pages and
illustrations. Normally, these kinds of strategies are
used in workplace to draw some attention and to
provide documentations.

• Multimedia
- Is content that uses a combination of different content forms such as text,
audio, images, animations, video and Interactive content.

EXAMPLE:
1. FLIP CHART
- A large paper that allowing the speaker to record text or drawings with
markers during speech.

- These materials can also help you achieve the same
outcome as flip chart on an easel.

3. Handouts
- Sheet of paper containing relevant information that
some speakers use in conjunction with other
presentation media.

- It is a part of Google Docs, a web-based program
that allows group collaboration.

• PowerPoint
- It is often used to create business presentation, but
can also be used for educational or informal
purposes.
