Introduction
• Citrus is highly famous fruit of Pakistan and keep
high position among all the fruits both in area and
production in the country.
• Kinnow is grown on more than 85% of area in
Punjab.
• Citrus is grown in all the four provinces of the
country share of the Punjab is 96%.
• District Sargodha is at the top of area and production
in the Punjab.
Objectives
• Training of the citrus and vegetable growers
according to modern production technologies as
 Use of Micro Nutrients and Gypsum.
 Balanced use of fertilizers and right time of
irrigation.
 Enhancement of citrus production qualitatively and
quantitatively for export.
 Awareness of Good Agriculture practices.
 Use of true to type disease free fruit plants.
 Popularization High density plantation .

PROMOTION OF FRUITS PRODUCTION IN PUNJAB
THROUGH PROVISION OF CERTIFIED PLANTS

The objectives of the Project is to replace the old, diseased,


un-productive, un-economical fruit orchards with new
plantation of true to type and certified fruit plants produced
through the registered fruit plant nurseries to enhance
productivity of fruit orchards for domestic consumption
round the year on affordable prices and for export purpose .
Targets
1. Conduction of survey of fruit plants area for future trends and
assessment of actual fruit plants requirements.
2. Conduction of fruit nurseries plant survey.
3. Registration of fruit plant nurseries for production of healthy
plants.
4. Provision of incentive to the registered nurseries for production of
quality plants.
5. Replacement of old, diseased, un-productive and un-economical
fruit orchards.
6. Provision of fruit plants to the orchard growers through
involvement of fruit plant nurseries.
7. Development of linkages between registered nurseries and GPUs.
8. Capacity building of nurserymen.

RESEARCH AND PROMOTION OF MEDICINAL PLANTS IN PUNJAB

The specific objective of the Project is to initiate research


and to promote the cultivation of the medicinal plants in
the conducive growing areas having enabling
environment by laying out of demonstration and capacity
building of grower to enhance the productivity and
profitability of the growers by making buy back contracts
among the herbal industry and grower for purchase of
produce of targeted medicinal crops on competitive rates
round the year.
TARGETS
1. To identify the areas/zones for growing of medicinal plants on larger
scale.
2. To disseminate the production technologies of targeted medicinal plants
among the farming community.
3. To motivate the farmers for promotion of medicinal plants in the suitable
growing areas
4. Capacity building/training of growers for growing of medicinal plants
through training programs.
5. To create awareness among the farming community for adoption of
modern techniques through lay out of demonstration plots and
conduction of farmer days & seminars.
6. To involve private sector for making by back contracts to ensure the
selling of produce of targeted medicinal plants.
