Geometric Sequence

 If the ratio of any term to its preceding term is always equal, that is, if the same
quotient is always obtained after dividing any term by its preceding term, then the
sequence is called geometric sequence and the quotient is called common ratio.
Geometric Sequence

 Event–1:
Lily wants to buy a gift for her mother. She needs at least 300 taka to buy the gift.
Lily plans to save some money starting from the first week of November. The
amount she saves in the first week will be doubled the following week. According to
the plan, Lily started saving with 5 taka. In how many weeks Lily will be able to
buy the gift?

 Event–2: Spreading of Virus

We are often affected by various diseases caused by viruses. Let’s assume that a
virus-borne disease spreads in such a way that initially one person gets infected.
Then it continues to spread like a pattern. The sequence for how the disease spreads
can be described as: 1, 2, 4, 8, ……… where each term is double the previous term
except for the first term.
Geometric Sequence

 In a geometric sequence, the first term is denoted as a, and the common ratio is
denoted as r. Therefore, we can write a geometric sequence in the following form:
