Background of the Study:
• Commercial shampoos have become the most convenient
hair treatment available in the market. However continuous
use can result in hair damage and hair dandruffs because of
its chemical composition found in the products which can
also be hazardous to health.

• This study aims to produce hair treatment agent that is


environmentally- friendly and economically suitable
alternative as it will only utilize Kadlum plants and coconut
oil which are abundant in the locality of the Researcher.
What is kadlum (Pogostemon heyneanus
Benth)plant?
• Kadlum (Pogostemon heyneanus Benth) is an erect or ascending,
branched, hairy herb 30 to 60 centimeters in height. Leaves are
very aromatic, like those of kadlum (Pogostemon heyneanus
Benth), somewhat smooth, ovate, 5 to 11 centimeters long,
toothed in the margins. Flowers are white, and borne in whorls
on terminal and axillary spikes which are 6 to 25 centimeters
long. kadlum shampoo can deliver numerous benefits to the hair,

family. Coconuts are native to Southeast Asia and the
islands between the Indian and Pacific oceans. In
particular, coconut is rich in antioxidants, has powerful
antibacterial properties, and may support better blood
sugar control. However, coconut is very high in fat and
calories, and it also helps repair damaged hair.

Objectives

The study aims to:

• Formulate an alternative shampoo/conditioner that can


help nourish, hydrate and keep the hair shiny and healthy.

• Produce an environmentally friendly and cheap shampoo

• To secure the shelf life of the kadlum shampoo


Procedure
• STEP 1 - Harvest kadlum (Pogostemon heyneanus Benth) leaves and gather
coconuts in the backyard.
• STEP 2 - Extract the kadlum (Pogostemon heyneanus Benth) leaves using extractor
at the PSU laboratory.
• STEP 3 - Squeeze coconut (Cocos nucifera) meat and utilize crude extraction to get
the coconut oil
• STEP 4 - Combine the mixture with paraben to preserve and extend its shelf life
• STEP 5 - simmer to remove infirmities and produce shampoo solution
