WHAT IS A SELF-
DIRECTED
LEARNING?
Self-directed learning is defined by Wallace et al (2001) as a process
in which individuals with or without the assistance of others, take
the initiative in diagnosing their learning needs, formulating learning
goals, identifying human and material resources for learning,
selecting and implementing appropriate learning strategies, and
evaluating learning outcomes.
Multigrade learners are
encouraged
t o monitor their learning by
expressing precisely what they
have learned, they have
how
learned, and what they need t o
do in order to widen their
learning. (Taole and Cornish, 2017).
