Industry Knowledge

WHAT IS COMPETENCY
BASED TRAINING (CBT)?

 Is a Training delivery approach


that focus on the competency
development of the learner as a
result of the training.
PRINCIPLES OF CBT

1. The training is based on curriculum developed from the competency.


2. Learning is modular in its structure.
3. Training delivery is learner-centered and self-paced.
4. Training is based on work that must be performed.
5. Training materials are directly related to the competency standards
and curriculum modules.
6. Assessment is based to the collection of evidence performance.
7. Training is based both on and off the job components.
8. Training program allows RPL.
9. Training allows multiple entry and exit program.
10. Training program are registered with UTPRAS.
ROLES OF TRAINER

1. Serves as team member.

2. Stimulates trainees’ motivation.

3. Manage and facilitates learning.

4. Assist the trainees.

5. Install confidence in the learner.

6. Serves as a model for work habits, attitudes and task


performance.

7. Spend more time interacting with trainees.

8. Evaluates student achievement.


ROLES OF TRAINEE
1. Select what/when they want to learn, within a reason.

2. Learn at their own rate.

3. Request credit of what they already know.

4. Choose how they want to learn individually.

5. They are responsible for what and when they learned.

6. Decide when they are ready to perform each task.

7. Compete against job standard not on co-trainees.

8. Move freely within the workshop.

9. Learn according to their interest, needs & abilities.

10. Evaluate their own progress.
