mental and social well-being and not merely
the absence of disease or infirmity.
TYPES OF HAZARDS
1. Physical Hazard

involves environmental hazards that can
cause harm with or without contact.

a threat to the health of living organisms,
primarily that of humans.

by exposure to chemicals in the workplace.
Exposure to chemicals in the workplace can
cause acute or long-term detrimental health
effects.
Three (2) Broad Issues to consider in the
Development of Occupational Health
Management
1. PREVENTION
 There is a moral and legal responsibility on

the employer to do whatever is reasonably

practicable to prevent work related ill health.
2. REHABILITATION
 Even if everything possible is being done to
prevent people suffering ill health from their
work, there still will be occasions where
someone does become ill.
