What is clause?
Group of words subject verb combination
It has a complete meaning by itself
For example: he plays cricket regularly.

he is a subject, play is the verb and the whole


sentence make complete meaning by itself.
Types of the clause

Clauses independent clause


dependent clause
Dependent clause
Subject verb combination
No complete thought
For example: wherever you like
 you is subject , like is verb and whole
sentence having meaning as well but its
incomplete.
Independent clause
A complete meaning by itself
Does not need any other clause for its existance.
For example: you may sit
 you is subject, sit is verb whole
sentence give meaning by itself.
Clause construction
A clause is the main unit of grammatical
structure. It usually consist of a subject and a
predicate. It consist of one or more groups.
A typical structure of a clause is SPCA.
Subject, object, complement, adjunct.
Clause construction
For example:
 double object verbs have the structure:
 noun+verb+noun+verb
 peter sent his mother some flowers
Recognition of the clause
A clause is the basic building block of a
sentence by definition , it must contain a subject
and a verb.
Although they appears simple, clauses can
function in complex ways in English grammer.
For example:
Subject + verb = complete thought
 I eat bananas.= complete thought
 hamza speaks loudly= complete thought
