 ABSTRACT
• Along with the constant improvement of different electronic devices, the
safety of line man has also become a matter of great concern, as the lives of
lineman are at risk while they work by switching off the circuit breakers,
because even after the circuit breaker has been turned off, someone can
unknowingly turn it on while the lineman is still working. Password Based
Circuit Breaker is a simple project that helps in controlling the electrical lines
with the help of a password. Nowadays, electrical accidents to the line man are
increasing, while repairing the electrical lines due to the lack of communication
between the electrical substation and maintenance staff. This project gives a
solution to this problem to ensure line man safety. In this proposed system, the
control (ON/OFF) of the electrical lines lies with line man.
 OBJECTIVE

• Developing a safety system for electrical staffs involved in maintenance.

• Avoiding the accidents that occurred due to miscommunication between the
maintenance staff & the electric substation staff.

 PROBLEM STATEMENT
• Circuit breakers play a vital role in maintaining system security. Since
their malfunctioning could results in further component outages and may
lead to the insecure operating conditions.
• During maintenance of distribution lines, there is a chance
of communication gap between the electric line and sub-station operator
or staff.
• This communication gap may risk life of electric line man. The control
to turn ON/OFF, the line lies with the line man only.
• During maintenance , the entire l ine is turned off, this
cause inconvenience to the consumers.
• Improper communication between maintenance staff and
substation causes the electrical accidents.
 PROPOSED SYSTEM
• The proposed system is designed to control a circuit breaker with the
help of a password on a keypad.
• The password based circuit breaker is a system that can be accessed
only by specified password.
• Circuit breaker controlled by authorized person.
• It also contain wireless voltage sensor.
• It will be mounted on helmet, so it will detect the voltage wirelessly
with in a certain distance it also increase the safety of a line man.

 RELAY
• The relay is the device that opens or closes the contacts to cause the
operation of the other electric control.
• It detects the intolerable or undesirable condition with an assigned area
and gives the commands to the circuit breaker to disconnect the affected
area. Thus protects the system from damage.

• The Arduino Uno is a microcontroller board based on the ATmega328.
• It has 20 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs
and 6 can be used as analog inputs), a 16 MHz resonator, a USB connection, a
power jack, an in-circuit system programming (ICSP) header, and a reset
button.
 RFID CARD & READER
• Radio Frequency Identification is the wireless non-contact use of radio
frequency waves to transfer data.
• Tagging items with RFID tags allows users to automatically and uniquely
identify and track inventory and assets.
 TRANSFORMER
• A transformer is defined as a passive electrical device that transfers electrical
energy from one circuit to another through the process of electromagnetic
induction.
• It is most commonly used to increase or decrease voltage levels between
circuits.

• It is used to ensure the lineman safety in electrical substations.
• This system is used in houses and buildings.
• To conserve the energy, it is used in public areas like hotels and shopping
malls.
 CONCLUSION
• It can work on given known password and it gives no scope of password
stealing.It ensures the line man safety and it reduces load demand in the
distribution side.There is also a provision of changing the password.The
electric lineman safety system is designed to control a circuit breaker with help
of a password and RFID.
