TIRO (YOURBA)
Tiro is a culturally significant cosmetic used for facial
ornamentation. Tiro is crafted from a base material
known as galena, a significant metallic mineral and a
vital commercial ore for lead and silver. It is
particularly among the Yoruba ethnic group. This
practice, dating back many years, has been embraced
by both men and women but gained widespread
popularity during the 19th century.

can also be made into a paste by mixing the powder with a little water
and palm oil. It can be used on the face or entire body. It is said to
have a smoothening effect on the skin. I
