Because a sports report is news, it must have the part
of a news story namely, the headline, the lead, and the
body.
• 1. HEADLINE- Use the appropriate sports lingo. Don’t
forget the total score.

•2. THE LEAD. The sports lead is the
attention getter- the news in a nutshell. It uses sports lingo
and contains the total score of the game.
• The sports lead may be one of the following:

• a. The Classic “5 Ws”
• b. The Key Play Lead
• c. The Outstanding Player Lead, and
• d. The Analytical Approach Lead

C. THE OUTSTANDING PLAYER LEAD- It features a
favorite, outstanding player. It is sometimes called the
hero of the game lead.

La Salle chesser Rex Cortez in 27 moves of a Sicilian
defense.

The outcome of the game is the result of a
particular key plan in action

inspiration," he added.

for Gogon High early in the first set, to post a precarious

But with his perfectly angled cross-court strikes,

Oro Site turned the tide on their side, as Llovit and
Addille both furnished decisive and defensive blocks, to
trim the deficit into one, 2-3.

latter part of the opening set, trading solid strikes and
deep defense, that tied the tally, 14-all, until the 5-foot-4
Naz flourished a smooth sunback spike, targeting the
right side of Oro Site's court, along with his defensive
brilliance against Oro Site's Adille, to seize the premier
set, 16-14.

Oro Site quickly moved on from the first set and

opened the second salvo with back-to-back solid strikes
from the grade 12 student, Adille, to post an unsteady 2-
0.
Leading with 4-3 in the early minutes of the
second set, Adille, still at his full swing, flexed his muscle
and bungled two consecutive spikes, via grade 7
Johatria Rivas on-point orchestration of ball, targeting
the left-end line of Gogon High's court, 6-3, heading into
the crucial part.

Oro Site and Gogon High both committed errors in

Llovit and Adille connection disrupted the plays of GHS,
pushing a 15-10 set win with their tremendous and solid
spikes.
Legazpi City's reliable player, Adille of Oro Site
continued to put on a diesel performance with his four
consecutive spikes, via Llovit and Rivas' accurate set
plays to manage their comeback push, 4-0.

The 17-year old Ansos heaved a sigh of relief for

from John Kenneth Sanoy's full-repertoire set plays to
pin a 3-4 tally, with their team down to one deficit.
See-saw battle was still noticed as both teams eke
out superb strikes back-and-forth, posting 14-14 score,
until such 4th-time sepak takraw player, Llovit,
showcased sharp and decisive two lucky aces, that
ended the match on a high note, 16-14, in favor of Oro
Site.

The 17-year old Llovit scored and contributed 9

aces.
