Our concept and how it began

Uva Greenlands estate (pvt) ltd is owned by our family business and is
located right in front of the famous tourist attraction ‘small Adams peak’.

The management of U.H.E group with its main business is a


manufacturing and exporting, saw this land as an opportunity to pro
sustainable tour

Therefore the company came up with the wonderful eco friendly and luxury
boutique hotel surrounded by 98 acres of fully functioning tea plantation.
Materials used
Materials used

• Sri Lankan Illuk (straw)


Called as traditional Sri Lankan tempered bushes to maintain cool
temperature inside rooms and halls as well as to reflect a sense of Srilankan
culture
• Sleepers
The old worn out railway sleepers that are of no use to the railway industry
are reused by the hotel for its construction purposes. It is used mainly for the
building of decks, walls and furniture.

The entire collection of furniture in the hotel is NOT purchased from outside,
but built directly by home carpenters to blend into the culture of the hotel.
Materials used

• Rocks
Tend to be one of the main contributors. The rocks used are unprocessed and
handcrafted to fit the needs and bring out the beauty of each villa.

• Golf buggies
Used for the transportation of guests and baggage from reception to rooms.
These vehicles are 100% hybrid and uses battery power with no toxic
emissions to the environment. The ensures minimum sound pollution and
peacefulness in the environment.
People

All people within the organisation are aware of the mission and goals of the
organisation that help them work effectively in achieving those targets.

•70% of staff is composed with local employees in the area


•Daily consumption is powered by local fresh vegetables and other
commodities purchased from local shops and families.
•Fresh milk is delivered daily from village houses who bred cattle and sell milk
for living.

• No driver accommodation is provided to our guests. So drivers are directed to


local home stays where local families benefit from the accommodation and
food rental.
• Over 50 families are directly benefited from our daily operations
• Over 100 families are indirectly benefited from daily operations.

• Daily village tours are carried out in local village homes where they
demonstrate and provide Sri Lankan cooking lessons to hotel guests
• Daily tea plucking sessions are carried out with local tea pluckers and then
guests are transported to the tea factory to see the Ceylon tea manufacturing
process and tea tasting session.
