ELIMINATING VAPE USAGE
AMONG GRADE 11 HUMSS
AUTHENTIC STUDENTS
INTRODUCTION
The issue of smoking around school premises has been a big
problem lately, impacting both the well-being of students and the
overall learning environment. While traditional cigarette smoking
remains a prevalent challenge, a new aspect has emerged with the
increasing popularity of vaping among students, adding complexity
to the issue. Our program is dedicated to spreading awareness among
students about the dangers of vaping, including the health risks and
potential consequences. Smoke from e-cigarettes contains particles of
nicotine, flavoring, and other substances suspended in the air.
Basically, you breathe these particles into your mouth from the
mouthpiece, where they go down your throat and into your lungs.
Tobacco use is associated with respiratory issues, cardiovascular diseases, and an increased risk of
cancer. Additionally, nicotine, found in tobacco products such as vapes, has detrimental effects on
physical health and well-being. It is crucial to recognize these risks and seek assistance if needed to quit
smoking, as nicotine is addictive.

According to Republic Act No. 9211, also known as the Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003, the use of e-
cigarettes is prohibited in enumerated indoor public places and workplaces such as government facilities,
healthcare and educational institutions, and facilities frequented by minors. Another statement in Section 6
of Republic Act 11900, or the Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act of the
Philippines, is that "the minimum allowable age for the purchase, sale, and use of Vaporized Nicotine and
Non-Nicotine Products, their devices, or Novel Tobacco Products shall be eighteen (18) years old and
above".
Considering all these factors, it is illegal for students to use vapes, but
these rules and regulations are not followed. It is our mission to reduce
the use of vapes in our classroom and to inform everyone about their bad
effects on our bodies. We will also introduce some alternatives to prevent
smoking, like engaging in physical activities and ingesting menthol
candies, gum, and dark chocolates. Chewing gum boosts blood flow to
your brain, which may help improve your memory. Another healthy
alternative is dark chocolate. Dark chocolate has antioxidants, which help
protect your skin from cellular damage and environmental factors like
UV light. This delectable treat also contains anti-inflammatory
characteristics that can soothe sensitive skin and improve its overall
appearance.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this project is to address the negative
effects of using e-cigarettes and, if possible, eliminate
smoking addiction among fellow students in the
classroom. The seminar will also show some alternatives
a user can use to adapt to or cope with vaping addiction.
This project is worth all the time, effort, and money
because reducing the use of vaping on school premises
gives a lot of benefits to the students, such as improved
physical health, more academic focus, and a safer school
environment.
DESCRIPTION
In this class project, our contributions are to reduce the use of vapes on school
premises, stop nicotine addiction among students, and improve their health outcomes.

This program will conduct a seminar that will educate students in Grade 11
HUMSS-Authentic about the dangers smoking can cause to our bodies and why it is
illegal on school premises.
To have a clear understanding, here are some topics that are included during the seminar:

1. Contents of vapes or e-cigarettes 4. Bad effects of nicotine addiction

2. Health risks that vapes bring 5. Healthy alternatives to smoking

3. Diseases that is caused by ingesting nicotine

Through these important fundamentals provided, the students should have a clear
understanding of the negative effects of using vapes.
To ensure that information about the negative effects of vaping in our body and
in our environment is accessible, we will provide pamphlets and brochures as
educational materials informing and explaining why vaping is prohibited on
school premises, why it is dangerous, and some healthy alternatives to smoking
or nicotine addiction.
Anyone in the classroom must join the seminar every Monday afternoon from
1:45 to 2:45 p.m. during our HGP time. As for the identified vape users, we will
provide them with menthol candies and dark chocolates to help combat their
addiction.
SUPPORT
The estimated budget for the project ranges from 2,000 to 3,000 pesos. This
includes educational materials (brochures and pamphlets), snacks, and vaping
alternatives (menthol candies and dark chocolate products). The project will
establish partnerships with the A.S.S.S. club and the HUMSS department of
Cagayan National High School-Senior High to ensure the program's needs and
values.
