About me

My name is Eashwar Siddha. I am 16 years old, currently doing my last year of school.

I have been interested towards the field of technology since I was around 13 years old and I was very
curious and keen towards the applications of technology in modern-day agriculture. The topic of Artificial
Intelligence had caught my eye a while back with the introduction of smart tractors and automated drip
irrigation systems, and since then I’ve always wanted to know better about the vast topic of AI.

The way a non-living piece of mechanism can be trained to mimic the activities and the way of thinking of
a human (sometimes better) got me interested in this field of technology.

Despite there being a lot of accomplishments using AI in agriculture, there are a lot of problems persisting
in the country amongst farmers considering their financial state. So solving the main problem of finance by
giving cheaper alternatives to the pre-existing modernized ways of agriculture should be a priority.

I am looking forward to learning the fundamentals of AI and implementing it into a useful project which
co-relates agriculture and artificial intelligence through this internship program with Clevered.
About the Pocket Farmer App

• The Pocket Farmer App is a basic integration of the rotten fruit detection application (Famer Buddy
App as given in the list ) and an additional feature to let you find the closest cold storage facility
available. This aims at giving old-aged farmers a better view at their produce by detecting rotten
stock through their phone cameras and giving them suggestions on the closest cold storage facility
for their remaining healthy stock.

• At present, farming is not chosen as an occupation by most of us. It is the same people who have
been feeding the country for generations who are still in the field and they have aged through the
years like every other human being. Smartphones on the other hand has become a daily necessity
more than of a commodity. Everyone these days have a smartphone (even elderly people)
To solve one of the problems faced by the old aged farmers, we have this application
that helps us scrutinize the produce and store the good stock for later.

• Using this application will help prevent the spoiled fruits or vegetables from spoiling the other
produce in the same stock as well as let the farmers know its time for them to properly preserve their
produce. This leads to the better quality of produce in markets as well as better profit for the farmers.
Everything in just a single click of a button.
The gameplan

• Considering my school schedules and other hurdles I might face through the project that
might occur because I am preparing for my boards, this is how the application processing
will unfold.

• Basic layout and UI designing will be done by the 25 th of August.

• The main content programming is divided into two parts – The rotten fruit detection part
which should be completed by the second week of September and the cold storage facility
detector part which should be completed by the last week of September.

• The testing phase will be over right in time for the Mid-Term Review which is on the 3 rd of
October.

• Further improvements and developments will be done through the course and the final
application will be presented in the Final Presentation on the 28 th of October.
Expected Guidance

• Since I am new to the concept of making applications, I am looking forward to

getting guidance from the mentors with the problems I might face in the UI
designing phase or the model training phase.

• I might require assistance anywhere in the middle of the project and I am hoping
that the team would not let me off.
