INTRODUCTION
 Fly Ash bricks are cleared of fly ash, lime, gypsum
and sand. These can be effectively occupied in all
building constructional activities just like the
common burnt clay bricks. The fly ash bricks
mostly found lighter in weight and more potential
rather than common clay bricks respectively. Since
fly ash is rapidly being picked up as waste material
(Toghroli et al.,2018), in huge quantity near
thermal power plants and producing severe
environmental pollution problems, similarly waste
plastics are produced in large amount due to the
increase in population and also cause severe
environmental problems when they are taken for
disposal
NEED FOR THE STUDY

 To improve the engineering properties such as

workability, plasticity, water tightness, etc.
 To improve the compressive strength to
estimate the stability and durability of the
brick
 To maintain the uniform size and shape of fly
ash bricks and to reduce the plastering
thickness
OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
 Investigation into the engineering properties and
characteristics of the fly ash samples collected.
 Investigation into the strength gain of composite
material aspects associated with the one of the fly
ash specimen collected.
 Establishment of better suited combinations of fly
ash- lime- surfactant compositions for
compressive strength test under laboratory
scale/conditions.
REVIEW OF LITERATURES
 J.N Akhtar& M.N Akhtar Bricks With Total Replacement
Of Clay By Fly Ash Mixed With Different Materials. Fly ash is
a powdery substance obtained from the dust collectors in the
Thermal power plants that use coal as fuel. From the cement
point of view the mineralogy of Fly ash is important as it
contains 80% - 90% of glass. The impurities in coal-mostly
clays, shale’s, limestone & dolomite; they cannot be burned
so they turn up as ash. The Fly ash of class C category was
used as a raw material to total replacement of clay for
making Fly ash bricks.
COMPOSITION OF FLYASH BRICK

Silica, Alumina and Calcium , these particles solidify

as microscopic, glassy spheres that are collected
from the power plant’s exhaust before they can ‘fly’
away hence the product’s name “Fly Ash”.
GRANITE SAW DUST
 Granite is an igneous rock which is widely used
as construction materials with Different forms.
Granite industries produce lot of dust and waste
materials. The wastes from the granite polishing
units are being disposed to environment which
cause health hazard. This granite powder waste
can be utilized for the preparation of concrete and
bricks
MANUFACTURING SAND
 Manufactured sand is an alternative for river
sand. Due to fast growing Construction
industry, the demand for sand has increased
tremendously; causing Deficiency of suitable
river sand in most part of the word. Due to the
depletion of good quality river sand for the use
of construction, the use of manufactured sand
has been increased. Another reason for use of
M-Sand is its availability and transportation
cost. Since manufactured sand can be
crushed from hard granite rocks, it can be
readily available at the nearby place,
MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF FLY
ASH BRICKS
 Fly ash, Lime, Granite dust and manufacture
sand are manually feed into a pan mixer where
water is added to the required proportion for
homogeneous mixing. The proportion of raw
material may vary depending upon quality of raw
materials. After mixing,
METHODS AND MATERIALS

 The purposes of this research are to identify factors

that contribute to strength gain in composite
specimen. This section summarizes the procedures
and materials used in performing the investigation.
The sections are the fly ash characterization
methods and the method for preparing lime-
cement- gypsum-fly ash mix specimens
FLY ASH
CHARACTERIZATION
 Fly ash characterization test were performed on
the fly ashes that were investigated in this project.
Tests included compressive strength, tensile
strength, slake durability & permeability.
PREPARATION OF FLY ASH
COMPOSITE MATERIAL
 The fly ash is chosen for its low lime content as
well as its availability in abundance. On the basis
of the literature reviewing, different lime
proportions (0, 5, 10, and 15) % of fly ash (by
weight) were selected. Similarly, percentages of
gypsum were (0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8) % of fly ash (by
weight).
RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS

 COMPRESSIVE & TENSILE STRENGTH

 The determination of compression and tensile
strength of the prepared samples were carried out
as per standard practice. The following table
shows the compressive & tensile strengths of
various samples after testing.
FUTURE SCOPE
 From the above analysis of samples & based on the results
recorded, it can be suggested that the strength of the fly ash
composite materials can be further increased by adding the
necessary additives in a higher percentage amount &
providing them enough curing period for better compaction..
 Fly ash for construction of roads and embankments.
 Feasibility study of the large scale Fly ash brick
manufacturing units.
 Fly ash utilisation for manufacturing of Pre- Fabricated
products.
 Fly ash in Aerated Autoclave Concrete.
 Considering the fly ash - lime - gypsum- sand combination
idea can be extended to manufacture.
CONCLUSION
 There is an imperative need to produce more building
materials for various elements of construction and the
role of alternative and innovative options would come into
sharp focus, considering the short supply, increasing
cost and energy and environment considerations for
traditional and conventional materials.
 The possibility of using innovative building materials and
technologies, more so covering waste material like If ash
have been considered as a felt need. Series of
institutional support for land, for land, finance,
regulatory, media, marketing support, testing support
and awareness creation would be needed and some of the
existing initiatives would have to be substantially
strengthened, more importantly, entrepreneurship for the
production
