1. Introduce yourself and prepare your audience
2. Provide your reasons for having chosen that piece of news
3. Contextualize the general topic
4. Advance some difficult vocabulary
5. Balance the words quantity  highlight key words or ideas
6. Use reported speech and reporting verbs: admit, state, claim,
complain, agree, suggest
7. Finish stating your own opinion on that issue.
8. Little text and much speaking
9. Thank your audience
Do
Use more formal language.
Use short, simple sentences to express your ideas clearly.
Pause from time to time and don’t speak too quickly. This allows the listener to
understand your ideas. Include a short pause after each idea.
Speak clearly and at the right volume.
Have your notes ready in case you forget anything.
Practice your presentation. If possible record yourself and listen to your presentation.
If you can’t record yourself, ask a friend to listen to you. Does your friend understand
you?
Make your opinions very clear. Use expressions to give your opinion.

In my opinion, For me, Personally, I think ...

Look at the people who are listening to you.


DON’T
Write out the whole presentation and learn every word by heart or read
it.
Use very informal language.
Speed up.
Only look at your notes or screen. It’s important to look up at your
listeners when you are speaking.
Neglect your body language.

Explain what your presentation is about at the beginning:

The main focus of this presentation is ...

Explain the reasons that have led you to choose the topic:

Use these expressions to order your ideas:
