Network Engineer

• The Network Engineer is responsible for design and


implementation of computer network LANs, MANs and WANs.
• Network Engineers plan, develop and implement computer network
and system services and troubleshoot problems related to them.
• They generally work as part of an IT team, where they test and
document computer network behaviour, performance and security
to ensure optimal performance.
DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

• Interact with managers and users to ensure that the database is


accomplishing what they need
• Meet with users to make modifications to the database whenever
there are changes in the company’s operation
• Ensure that the database is performing at its optimum at all times to
meet the needs of its users.
• Develop policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity
of the system
• Select and maintain database management software, coordinate
database design
• Establish backup and recovery procedure in case of failure/ loss of
data.
NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

• Maintains a computer network (LAN) including both the


hardware and the software that makes the system work.
• Oversee the installation of the network’s hardware and
software
• Monitors the network’s performance to ensure it is working at
its optimum
• Troubleshoot and solve problems on the network
SYSTEM ANALYST & DESIGNER

• They are to plan and design software solutions. They typically


visit an organisation, to see how computer systems can help
with the work, and plan out the software that the organisation
will need.
• Oversees activities related to the design and development of
new information systems.
Software developer

• Works with the system analyst and develops the program


specifications that the programmers will work from.
COMPUTER OPERATOR
• A computer operator is responsible for monitoring and controlling
computer hardware systems- especially mainframes- ensuring the
efficient use of these devices.
• Start up and shut down the system
• Respond to messages from system software and carry out the actions
required
• Continuously observe the operations of the equipment and report any
faults to the supervisor.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, such as cleaning drive-
heads
• Load input and output units with materials such as tapes for tape
drives and paper for printers
DATA CONTROL CLERK & DATA ENTRY OPERATOR

• The data control clerk screens, edits and validates the input and
output for a data processing unit. She/ he runs scheduled or
requested jobs to provide clients with necessary data.
• A data entry operator enters data into a system in a form that is
suitable for processing. The individual must have a general
knowledge of data entry machines and their operations and an
ability to enter data at a rapid rate with very few errors.
FILE LIBRARIAN

• Keeps track of all the files that are needed within an


organisation, organises backups and restores files that are
lost.
• Maintains and protects the company’s programs and data
• Catalogue and store magnetic tapes and disks
• Clean and inspects storage media
PROGRAMMER
• Most computer software is created by large teams of programmers. Some
jobs involved in programming include:
• Applications and game programmers- create commercial software that
performs useful functions for customers.
• Systems programmers- create system software that help the computer
system to function
• Software engineers- are senior programmers.
• Web developers- are software developers who work developing World
Wide Web applications, such as websites and web services.
• Software testers- works with the programming team, carrying out test and
locating bugs and errors in the code.
SOFTWARE TRAINER

• The software trainer works with users to develop the


skills and understanding they need to make the best use
of the software.
• They assess client’s needs, prepare learning materials
and aids, deliver course and evaluates course.
MULTI-MEDIA ARTIST

• Create animated images and special effects,


storyboards, drawing or illustrations by hand or develop
a series of images for animations.
