Modes of Multimodal Texts

Linguistic: refers to any sort of spoken or written text T

Visual: refers to images and characters such as marks, signs and symbols. It
involves the use of color, layout, style, and size.

Gestural: it is about movement and how we interpret it. Examples: facial


expressions, hand gestures, body language, interactions with people.

Spatial: organization of elements in a space. It also deals with physical
closeness between people and objects.
Aural: it is the mode which focus on sound. This includes music, sound
effects, noises, silence, tone of person’s voice. F
