PHYSIOTHERAPY

WHO Defined Physiotherapist as who


assess Plan & Implement Rehabilitative
programme that improve or restore human
motor Function, maximise moment ability,
relieve pain syndrome & treat or prevent
physical challenges, Injuries, Diseases &
other impairment.
HISTORY
The Greek Physician like hippocrates are believed to
have been the first Practioners of physical therapy.
460 B.C.
Introduced the idea of manual therapy from
pain relief. Since the physiotherapy has evolved
from simple massage.
• Hector :- physiotherapy is called hydrotherapy.
Henrik Ling (Father of Swedish gymnastics ):-
Royal central Institute of gymnastic.
1813 :- For massage manipulation and & Exercise.
1887 :- PT. were given official Registration by
Swedish National Board of Health & welfare .
1894 :- Great Britain :- Chartered Society Of
physiotherapy .
1913:- New Zealand :- physiotherapy established by
the University of OTAGO.
1914 :- United State:- Red collage in port Blair – “
Reconstruction Aids”.
1914-18 :- World War.
March 1921 :- United state:- Research Published in
“the PT review”.
And American Physical Therapy Association, APTA.
Polio Treatment
1950 :- America & European Countries :- Hospital
based Practice.
1950-70 :- Faculties of Orthopedic, Neaurology, And
Cardiology were added to the Program.
1970- Till now :- Physiotherapy is at its peak.
