Characteristics of a good seed.
• Goods seeds are fully mature.
• Good seeds should be viable.
• Good seeds should be true to type.
• Good seeds should be clean.
• Good seeds should be free from seed-borne
diseases.
• Good seed should be suitable for local conditions.
• Good seeds should be large, viable, healthy,
plump, and of good size.
Common Method of
Testing Seed
Rag Doll Method
• rolled towel method
• is the most practical method of testing
vegetable and corn seed.
• it requires less room and room better result.
Procedure
• Get 100 seeds from the mixture.
• Moisten a piece of cloth measuring cm2
• Place the seeds in rows on the piece of
cloth and then roll the cloth.
• Place the rag doll on a table where it
will not be unduly touched.
• Moisten the rag doll everyday.
Dinner plate or Blotter Method
• The seeds are palced in a plate of moist sand
and covered by another plate or between two
sheets of moist blotting paper.
• The medium surrounding the seeds must be
kept moist and warm until the test is over
The Seed box Method

• It consists of a box of
sand about 12cm deep
of convenient length,
and width abot 40cm by
50 cm.

Direct Seeding Method

• The seeds are planted

Transplanting Method
• The seeds are planted first
in seed boxes to produce
seedlings, which are then
transplanted into the fireld
as soon as they have
developed true leaves.

pechay, lettuce, tomato,
cabbage, and eggplant have
scatteres and branched root
systems that reco easily
after transplanting.
Asexual Method
• Parts of plants, commonly
the stem, are cut and
planted directly to the soil.
• There are several different
methods.
