WHY SCOUTING IS FUN?

WHAT IS/ARE THE ROLE OF THE ENVIRONMENT IN SCOUTING MOVEMENT?


Activities in Senior Scouting

• Something most of the young people in the Outfit are


enthusiastic about doing together. It is fun, adventure, or
work that can happen best when a group suggests
together on it.

• An undertaking that may happen in a couple of hours, a


day, or occasionally longer.
TYPES OF SENIOR SCOUT ACTIVITY

• OUTFIT ACTIVITIES
• These are organized program or events wanted by a majority of the members and which
happens within given a period of time. It should meet the standards of Senior Scouting
and the Sponsoring Institution. It includes as many experiences as possible from the
four activity fields.
• OUTFIT SPECIALTIES
• These are a concentration of a series of activities in on special field of interest to the
Outfit members. This concentration may go on in several months or even years and
then change to another or no change at all.
• OUTFIT SUPER ACTIVITIES
• Once, twice, thrice, or four times a year, an outfit, should come up with a super
activity. Super activities are just like the “SUPER colossal, extra ordinary activities. It
is like the championship game in the World Olympics where everyone prepares extra
hard.
TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP

• Outfit Specialties may vary in scope. It may


specialize in the forestry or in the much broader
Environmental Conversation, in canoeing or in the
broader fields of aquatics; in shell craft or in the much
broader handcraft.
• Technical leadership and equipment are usually
necessary in an Outfit Specialty. These are obtain
through guidance of an Adult expert in the field in an
Outfit Activity, this is the activity areas must also
measure specialties.
VOCATIONAL EXPLORATIONS

• Recycling of Used Materials (papers / plastics)


• Desktop Publishing / Graphics Design
• Arts and Crafts (Leather, Metal and Wood Crafts)
• Special Interests / Hobbies and Collections
• Information Communication Technologies
(computers, radio, IT Gadgets)
CO-ED SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

• Courtesy, proper decorum and concern


for the well being of others is the outward
expression of a good citizen and a true
gentleman.

• Senior Scouting offers the young men of


today a chance to develop courtesy as well
as social concern and understanding.
CO-ED SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

• Institutional Scout Youth Forums / Congress


Seminar/Workshops and Summits. (with both male and
female Scouts participating and organizing the event.)
• Socio-Cultural Presentations (Stage Plays, Recitals,
Oratorical, Talents Unlimited, Singing and Dancing
Contests)
• Grand Scouts’ Ball Parade
• JOTA-JOTI
• Sending email with Scouts around the world.

Program
• Livelihood and Community Development Projects
• Community Health and Nursing Assistance
• Health and Nutrition Campaign
• Drug Abuse Resistance Education
• Population and Reproductive Health Education
• Alternative Learning Systems (Accreditation and Equivalency)
• Safety / Peace and Order
• Clean and Green / Beautification / Environment
OUTDOOR PROGRAM FOCUS

• WOOD CRAFT – Knowledge about the environment and the conservation and
protection of the ecology.

• CAMP CRAFT – Knowledge and Skills for outdoor living such as Backwoods
Engineering, Pioneering and Rope Works, Camp Cookery, Map Orienteering, Compass
Reading

• AQUATICS – All water related knowledge, skills, and activities such as Water Safety,
Water Survival, Water Rescue

• FITNESS & HEALTH – Activities that emphasizes physical development & habits such
as Obstacle Course, Rope Courses, Team Building and Group Dynamics.
SELECTING A GOOD CAMPSITE

• LOCATION – must be free from hazards and dangers.

• WATER – Area should have ample and safe water supply for drinking.

• WOODS – There should be plenty of deadwoods for cooking and for making camp
gadgets.

• FOOD - Area should have a source for food.

• SURROUNDINGS – there should be adequate space for Scout Craft, practice, games,
& exploring.
