1. Grammar and language attitudes have evolved over time. Although Sanskrit had a grammar in the fifth century BC, Although Sanskrit had a grammar, what is now known as
Traditional Grammar was developed by the early Greeks, who also established an alphabetic writing system. The grammar of a language is the structure of the language, how
words are built individually, and how they are related to one another in a sentence. Early forms of communication evolved long before there was any thought about the structure of
a language, but its understanding has been influenced by people interested in both language and philosophy since the dawn of grammar. This innovation gave birth to literary
writings as we know them, and as a result, the need for a grammar arose, so that people could better understand and appreciate what was written. Dionysius Thrax, a Greek,
defined grammar as something that allows a person to either speak or speak about a language and how its components relate to each other by the first century BC. A Greek named
Dionysius Thrax defined grammar as "something that allows a person to speak or speak about a language and how its components relate to each other." Latin grammar developed
later and was heavily influenced by Greek grammar. Much later, nearly two thousand years after Thrax, our English grammar evolved from Latin. Because Latin grammar was
used as a foundation for English grammar, there was a focus on prescriptive grammar. Rather than being a description of how the language was actually used, these Traditional
Types of Grammars laid down rules for the formulation of what grammarians and linguists saw as principles for correct language usage. Missionaries learned to communicate in
languages other than Greek and Latin as international travel increased, particularly in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It was discovered that a view of traditional grammars
was inadequate for translating the Bible as accurately as possible into these languages because it could not be easily applied to many of these languages.
