A. Review/
Introductory
Activity The teacher starts the class with a prayer which is followed by checking of the
attendance using a seat plan.

B. Activity/ PICTURE –WORD MATCH


Motivation Directions: Each student will get the picture or word placed on his/her seat
and match it to his/her one-meter apart seatmate’s picture or word. Figure
out how the two items are related. Allow one student in each pair to give
his/her answer.

Note: The teacher provides 5 pictures and 5 words for this activity and
placed them in the seats of the students.
C.Analysis After the activity, ask the following questions to the students:

2.What comes to your mind while doing the picture match?
3. Do you have an idea of the lesson that we are going to tackle today?
(The teacher will allow more answers)
D.Abstraction Discussion:
 What is analogy? It is a statement of comparison between things,
ideas or concepts. It can help us to develop our critical thinking skill.
To work on analogy questions correctly, there is a need to form a
logical relationship between words.
Example: Performer: action:: painter : paint
Read as: Performer is to action as painter is to paint.
 What is the function of the performer?
 What does a painter do?
 What are the categories of analogy?
( The teacher can divide the categories for each of the weekdays
discussion.)
1.Synonyms -these are pair of similar words
Ex. pretty: gorgeous::sad: mournful
2. /Antonyms – these are pair of opposing words
Ex. Empty : full:: awkward :graceful
3.Classification – this is identifying something to its group.
Ex. Eagle:bird::Tuna:fish
4, Part to Whole – a fraction that represents a whole
Ex. Fin:fish::wing:bird
5. Characteristics – a quality typical to a person or a thing or an idea
Ex. Bird:air::Fish:water
