A Lesson Plan on Teaching the Article #3-in1


For Grade 7 Zircon, Mauretania, Aquamarine, Topaz and Moonstone

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of a 45-minute class discussion, the students will be able to:
a. read the article #3-in 1;
b. recognize the importance of living in harmony amidst differences; and
c. perform the designated and planned activities

Reading Selection: #3-in-1

III. LEARNING RESOURCES


A. Reference

English LM pages 312-314

B. Materials
whiteboard marker, visual aids, Learner’s Manual, bond paper, picture

IV. PROCEDURE

A. Preliminary
The students’ attendance will be checked. This will be followed by a
simple recapitulation.

B. Motivation
A picture of a 3-in-1 coffee will be presented to the class. The learners
will have to list down the characteristics of a 3-in-1 coffee. After the
learners respond with varied answers, they will be asked with the
following question: “What could be the content of the selection based
from the title?”

C. Silent Reading
After throwing the motive question to the class and elicited responses,
the students will be introduced to the selection. They will be given 10
minutes to read it. They will have to take note of the difficult words they
encountered on the selection.

D. Discussion
When the time is up, the selection will processed through the following
questions:
1. Why do you think the writer compared the class to a 3-in-1 coffee?
2. What are the differences that she observed in her class?
3. What do we need to do for us to live in harmony in spite of
differences?

E. Student Activity
The learners will be asked to scan the selection and find out how the
teacher in article described diversity in her classroom. They will
organize their answers using a mind map. If the learners will face
difficulty on making a mind map, the following guide questions will be
given:

1. What are the differences among the learners that the teacher
encountered?
2. What did she say about the fast learners?
3. Why did she say that having a diverse learners in a class has its
advantage?
