- Increased focus on organic and unprocessed food
- Pressing global mental health issue has prompted a search for novel
treatments: psychedelic healing research is showing promising results
- Depenalization of magic mushrooms in some western countries/regions

By income level, consumers earning $50,000 to $100,000 per year were the most
frequent buyers of edible mushrooms, with 40% indicating mushroom purchases in the
previous year.
Sustainability
Mushrooms are natural recyclers: they are grown using materials that would otherwise go
to waste (like wood chips and composted soil…). And some of those materials can be
reused in agriculture after production.

Also, producing 100 kcal / 3g of protein of mushrooms:

- Releases 80% less CO2 than beef
- Takes up 90% less land area than rice

Mushrooms grow indoors under controlled conditions (producing spawns every few
weeks), so they are available all year round and can be a sustainable source of nutrition
even in harsh climate conditions and despite unfavorable weather events.
