Abstract

• In this present work the cement is partially replaced by fly ash and Metakaolin in certain percentage and
hence the emission of co2 is reduced. Flyash is varied for 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% and 50% and Metakolin
for 5% and 10%. Addition of fiber increases the strength in SCC and control plastic shrinkage cracking in
concrete. Crack resistance and durability properties are also increased due to addition of fibers. 1Kg/m3 is
the optimum dosage of concrix fiber is used for project work. Partial replacement of cement by fly ash and
Metakaolin results in the reduction of cost.
Introduction
• Concrete : Concrete, an artificial stone-like mass, is the composite material that is created by mixing binding material
(cement or lime) along with the aggregate (sand, gravel, stone, brick chips, etc.), water, admixtures, etc in specific
proportions. The strength and quality are dependent on the mixing proportions.
• Fly ash is a by product of coal consumption and typically used in concrete to replace portion of the cement.(Production of
cement in india is 22.6 million tons in 2021 & 19% of cement production is increased in 2022.)
• Metakaolin is used mainly to reduce the usage of cement (whose production leads to the pollution for environment) & it is
largely amorphous dehydration product of kaolinite that exhibits strong pozzolanic activity.
• Concrix fibres act as structural reinforcement, enhance the impact strength of the concrete and, most of all, can also be used
in the static area.
• Self Compacting Concrete is a concrete which compacted under its own weight.
To be continued…........
• Impact test, Test of the ability of a material to withstand impact, used by engineers to predict its behaviour under actual
conditions. Many materials fail suddenly under impact, at flaws, cracks, or notches.
For Example:-
 The Bridge piers must be designed to resist accidental impact by heavy vehicles.
 The Nuclear power facilities must be designed to resist aircraft impact.
 The Military structures and critical civilian infrastructure must be able to survive impact and blast.
Objectives:-

 Influence of concrix fibre on impact strength will be investigated and the

performance will be compared with other fibres.

 Drop by test in accordance with ACI committee 544 will be conducted and
compressive strength will be evaluated for curing period of 28 days.
AUTHOR YEAR TITLE DESCRIPTION
Osman Gencel , 2019 Workability and Mechanical • The use of fly ash reduces the demand for cement ,fine
Witold Brostow , Tea Performance of Steel Fiber- fillers and sand that are required
Datashvili and Reinforced Self-Compacting • It is well known that fibers reduce the workability of
Michael Thedford Concrete with Fly Ash concrete and this seems handicap for on-site applications.
There is not enough study carried out on fiber-reinforced
concrete produced with FA and combination of them
together.
• In thisrespect, the combination of fiber-reinforced
concrete and SCC and FA together andperformance of
new composite was investigated in order to elucidate the
situationand possibly develop materials with improved
properties.

P.Muthupriya 2020 Strength study on fiber reinforced • This research conducted to investigate effect of
self-compacting concrete with fly polypropylene fiber addition on characteristics of SCC in
ash and GGBFS. the fresh state: flowability, viscosity, passing ability and
segregation resistance.
• Effect of polypropylene fiber addition on compressive
strength, splitting tensile Strength and impact resistance of
SCC also wanted to be known.
• Based on the results of fresh and hardened SCC tests,
prediction of optimum volume fraction of polypropylene
fiber in SCC mixes can be determined.
Methodology
 Fresh and hardened properties of normal concrete, SCC, FRSCC and for other mix ratios were
performed and results are tabulated for 1kg/m3 concrix fiber.

 Test on fresh concrete :- Slump flow, T500 and segregation resistance test were tested on fresh concrete
in order to determine the flow ability, viscosity and segregation of each SCC mix. Are completed…….

 Test on hardened concrete :- Compressive strength, split tensile strength and flexural strength were
tested on hardened concrete samples in order to determine the mechanical properties of SCC mix. To be
continued…….
• The response of a structural element to impact depends on the interaction between the impacting body and the
structure.

• Nemours factors described impact strength, which relative masses, velocities, contact zone stiffness, frequency of
loading, precision of impact, and the area of local energy absorbe.

• In this study; a drop-weight was used to apply the impact loading to the SCC and fiber SCC beams from a certain
dropheight.

• The comparative study of impact energy absorption capacities for each type of concrete was performed.

• The damage and failure forms were identified.
