Bed Coverings
Traditionally beds are made up with bed sheets and blankets, however duvets are used in
some hotels. Bed linens includes:
 Bed sheets: It is used to cover the mattress. Number of bed sheets varies in the hotel,
some uses three, or two bed sheets only.
 Duvet: It consists of a duvet filler and duvet cover.
 Pillow cases: These are placed on the pillows.
 Bedspreads: This is placed on the top of made bed.

Keys
It is a device used to open a lock.

Types of Keys
 Emergency Key – it opens all guestroom doors, even when they are double
locked. It is usually locked in a safe deposit box & dated, signed out by the
individual taking the key.
 Master Key – it is designed to open a set of several locks. It opens all
guestrooms that are not double locked.

 Grand Master Key: it operates all locks in the hotel, including laundry
rooms.

 Floor Supervisor Master Key: it operates all sections on the floor/floors
supervised by the particular supervisor.
 Housekeeping Staff Master Key: it operates all rooms serviced by a
particular housekeeping staff.

 Guest Key – it is issued to guest to open their assigned guestroom that is


individualized for each lock.

It is electronically coded cards and is not actually a key. It is a plastic card which
stores digital used with electronic access control locks.
