thread
G76-Canned cycle for threading operation in lathe
Block Parameter Description
First block P P actually consists of multiple values which control the thread behaviour,
01: No. finish cut
00: Relief angle
60: Flank angle or Thread angle

Q Depth of normal cut

(these values are given in hundreds, so depth of cut will be 0.1)
R Depth of last or finish cut
Second block X Minor diameter
Z Length

P Thread depth or height

Q Depth of first cut

F Feed

R Thread taper (If R value is zero or not specified, straight thread cutting is performed)
G76 P (MRA) Q R Thread height=0.6134×pitch
G76 X….Z…P….Q…F Minor diameter=major diameter-
(2×thread height)

P: [M] = No. of finish cut

[R] = Relief angle
[A] = Angle of thread
Q: first cut in micron
R: Finishing allowance
X: minor diameter
Z: length of thread
P: thread height
Q: Second cut and each cut in micron
F: Feed
R: If any taper is there
