I looked in the mirror of my bedroom, thinking about what I saw; did I see this flawless man

with structured cheekbones, or a perfect nose? Did I see what girls though to be like a
Greek god? Did I think I was perfect?
Maybe that’s just what typical girls think. They probably think “hot.” But Bella she’s
different.
She sees me as something different, something I can’t think to say. She thinks I am beautiful
and flawless.
But I see myself as a monster, a monster that had to control him to try not to drink his
girlfriend’s tasty blood. I cringed at the thought. Bella fascinates me in so any ways; she is
unique and different from other girls. If only I could peek into her mind for one minute.
And to think this girl could be my future wife. Well if she ever accepts, it could mean the
world to me. When she looks into my eyes, she studies , she looks for the truth. I stare into
her eyes, to see faith, love, kindness. The list goes on. Her eyes twinkle and her pale
complexion suits her almond color hair. She doesn’t see herself as beautiful, which I find
hard to understand and believe. All guys in Forks ever think about is her. And I am one of
those guys. Matter of fact I have the privilege of getting to see her face again.
But of course there’s a down side, Charlie has a curfew all because of Jacob. Why can’t he
but out, mind his own business and keep his dirty paws away from Bella? Ha can’t face that
their relationship never really begun.
I glanced at the blue velvet box, that was placed in perfect silence on my table. I wonder if
he’ll get in the way. The thought of him almost makes me feel sick.
I wonder if Bella can ever say yes.
I looked at my watch, it was time to go. Even though I wouldn’t be there for that long, well
that’s what Charlie thinks. He can get on my nerves sometimes but I manage to keep it calm
and obtained. Just some of his thoughts can set me off.

I jumped out my window and landed gently on the ground. I made my way to Bella’s house. I
ran, because in the dark and thick shadows, nobody can see me. My feet moving so fast
they look like two blurs to most people. Leaves whooshed past e, from the force of the wind.
Some fragile ones broke in two. I stopped abruptly when I reached Bella’s house. The inside
lights were on, you could see them through the yellow curtains.
I heard Charlie’s thoughts clear as a bell.
“Just wondering what…..Edward’s plans are for next year?” He asked. I saved Bella the pain
of lying, which might I point out she does terribly at. And well finding the trouble of making
something up. I tapped on the door lightly three times. I heard footsteps, and Bella quickly
opened the door. She studied my face for a while. While I studied hers.
Her thin, dark brown hair was kept down, as usual. Her curls bounced of each other and
were placed perfectly to bring out her oval shape face. Her pale complexion brought out her
eyes. We looked into each other’s eyes, exploring. My expression might have been
fascinated. And had just been hunting to. Mountain Lions are getting more rare. When I
looked into her eyes, I saw amazement in my looks. Her eyes almost went limp, I’m dazzling
her. Ooops. She searched for my hands and succeeded, the warm temperature reaching my
icy finger tips made my heart jolt.
Bella sighed, I smiled my crooked smile. It dazzled her more. She loses her train of thought
when I dazzle her. It’s quite extraordinary.
“Go away!” Charlie thought, I just smiled. Trying to contain my real feelings.
“Hey.” She looked up at me and smiled. “How was your afternoon?” She asked.
“Slow.” I replied, most of the reason is that she wasn’t there. “Stupid curfews.” I muttered
under my breath, much too fast and quiet for her to hear.
“Mine too.” She sighed. I lightly pulled her left wrist up to my cheeks. Inhaling the much less
tempting smell and feeling the hot burn that touched my skin. I closed my eyes and smiled.
I smiled because I finally was able to see her, to feel her. I blocked out Charlie’s annoying
comments and focused on my soon to be wife, Bella. I sighed. Her blood smelt wonderful,
the slight burning sensation in my throat still remained. I tried not to think about the
sweetness or the smell.
I then heard Charlie’s feet stomp towards us, my eyes shot open and I let Bella’s hands
drop. But I still kept them entwined.
“Good evening Charlie.” I smiled and put on the most polite tone I could. I probably made
Bella believe I thought well of him, but my thoughts were different to my lies. The least
Charlie could do is be polite back! I looked him directly in the eye; the only expression I saw
was complete anger and annoyance.
He grunted at me then, before I could lose my temper I brought up another subject.
“I brought another set of applications.” I smiled holding up a manila folder. I glanced at
Charlie; he had his arms crossed over his chest glaring at us both.
I looked back at Bella her expression priceless! A grumpy look washed over her face, and a
look of tiredness. I couldn’t help but smile. She has to at least try.
“There are still a few open deadlines. And a few places willing to accept.” I tried to convince
her. I have sent in some applications and have been trying to convince her to get a great
education. I laughed at her expression.
“Shall we?” I asked her, taking her hand and pulling her around the kitchen.
She looked like she was tired of trying, but I wasn’t going to let her give up that easy.
Charlie slowly followed.
Bella moved everything off the table, as I placed a stack of neat files, she moved her most
favorite book of all time “Wuthering Heights” to the counter. I raised an eyebrow at her. How
could she possibly keep reading that little book over and over? I was about to say something
but..

“Speaking of college applications.” Charlie interrupted “Bella and I were just talking about
school for next year. Where are you going to school next year?” He asked, his tone
challenging.
I thought his question could be turned into. “Is it a private snobby school?” I held back my
insults and put on my polite act again.
“Not yet. But I have received a few acceptance letters. I’m weighing my options.” I smiled at
him.
“Where have you been accepted?” He raised one eyebrow.
“Syracuse…Harvard…Dartmouth… And I just got accepted into the University of Alaska
southeast today.” I turned my head around slightly and winked at Bella. She looked to the
ground, blushed and giggled. But the color disappeared almost immediately. I smiled and
stifled a laugh.
“Harvard? Dartmouth?” He huffed. “That’s ah – that’s something. But the University of
Alaska, you wouldn’t think I mean. Carlisle would want..”
“Carlisle’s always fine with whatever I choose to do.” I cut him off.
I hope he doesn’t go for it, Bella was accepted… he thought selfishly. Does he bother to
think about what Bella wants?
“Hmph.” He replied and looked to the ground, kicking at some dust.
“Guess what Edward?” Bella asked, happy, bubbly and cheerful. I smiled, I told her once
before she should never act.
“What Bella?” She pointed to a thick white envelope on the table.
‘I just got my acceptance to the University Of Alaska!” She playfully exclaimed.
“Congratulations!” I replied, playing happily along. “What a coincidence.” I grinned, from ear
to ear.
Charlie looked up and glared at us both. “Fine.” He muttered in defeat.”I am going to watch
the game. Bella, nine – thirty.” He replied a little louder and pointed his finger to her.
“Er dad? Remember our very recent discussion about freedom?” Bella asked. I smiled
hearing some of Charlie’s thoughts amused me.
Rats! She could’ve brought it up after.
He frowned immediately and sighed. “Right. Okay, ten thirty. You still have a curfew on
school nights.”
“Bella’s no longer grounded?” I asked, I wasn’t too surprised, Charlie would do anything as
long as Bella was going to spend some time with.. I had to spit the name out it my mind.
Jacob. I washed any expression off my face, as long as Bella didn’t know what I was thinking.
“Conditionally.” Charlie spat through his teeth. “What’s it to you?”

I’m sorry, she’s just my future wife and it’s great to know that I can see her more now! I felt
like screaming the words. I growled softly in my chest.
“It’s just good to know. Alice has been itching for a shopping partner and I’m sure Bella
would love to see some city lights.” I turned to smile at Bella; maybe it could up both of our
moods.

“No!” Charlie yelled, and I swore he turned purple. I’m a vampire and I sparkle in the sun,
but I don’t turn purple! I frowned, it could give me a lot of benefits and advantages

.“Dad what’s the problem!” Bella yelled, she was getting just as angry as me.
“I don’t want you going to Seattle right now.” He replied, not bothering to look at me
.“Huh?” Bella replied.
“I told you about the story in the paper- there is some kind of killing spree in Seattle, and I
don’t want you going there.”Bella rolled her dark brown eyes. “Dad there’s a better chance
I’ll get struck by lightning then the one day I’m in Seattle-“

Bella doesn’t know the trouble she could get into.

“No it’s fine Charlie.” I cut Bella off. “I didn’t mean Seattle, I was thinking Portland actually. I
wouldn’t have Bella in Seattle. Of course not.”
I sat on one of the kitchen chairs. Reading the horrific story in the paper. I read each word
intently. I stopped breathing immediately. Victoria.
Bella stared at me in disbelief, her mouth open her. Her expression Confused.
Charlie stared at me for a second. “Fine.” He stalked off.
“What-“ Bella began.”
“Hold on.” I said, continuing to read the tragic scene of events. I pushed set of applications
to Bella.
“I think you can recycle your essays for this one. Same questions.”

As Bella started to fill out the application, I stared out the window.
What are we going to do? Bella is in danger. We can’t have that, at all.
Bella then glanced at the name of the college. She snorted loudly and shoved the papers
aside.
“Bella?”
“Be serious, Edward. Dartmouth?” She asked.
I lifted the papers carefully and placed them in front of her again. Her eyes following the
movement of my hands.
“I think you’d like New Hampshire.” I told her. “There’s a full complement of night courses
for me, an the forests are very conveniently located for the avid hiker. Plentiful wildlife.” I
smiled my dazzling crooked smile.
She took a deep breath through her nose.
“I’ll let ou pay me back if you want.” I offered. “If you want, I can charge you interest.”
“Like I could even get in without some enormous bribe. Or was that part of the loan? The
new Cullen wing of the library? Ugh. Why are we having this discussion again?”

I sighed. “Will you just fill out the application. Please, Bella? It wont hurt you to apply.”
“You know what? I don’t think I will.”
Her arm stretched out for the papers. But of course I beat her to it. She stared at the empty
spot before her, then at me.
I stayed in the same position as I had before.
“What are you doing?” She demanded.
“I sign your name better than yourself. You’ve already written your essays.” I may seem to
be a little selfish. But this is one human experience I don’t want her to miss.
“You’re going way overboard with this you know.” She whispered quietly. “I really don’t
need to apply anywhere else. I’ve been accepted in Alaska. I can almost afford the first
semesters tuition. It’s as good an alibi as any. There’s no need to throw away a bunch of
money, no matter who’s it is.”

My face tightened, how can she want to be a vampire so suddenly. “Bella-“

“Don’t start. I agree that I need to go through the motions for Charlies sake, but we both
know I am not going to be in any condition to go to school next fall. To be anywhere near
people.”
I felt like falling to my knees, pleading for her to change her mind. But that would never
happen.
I don’t know why I am letting Bella do this. At all.
