Any idea what code would an vertical, above ground, 10' dia x 30' tall chrorine tank under 3 psi (liquid & vapor) be designed & inspected to?
Client has given few specs: 1/2" carbon plate, CJP welds except for weld at shell bottom, I-beam reinforced flat bottom & top.
Seems API 620 code has been suggested over VIII. I know RT is required. Hydro required or is there an alternative (other than pneumatic) since this would be a large amount of water?

I would suggest you API 620 as a design and construction Code. The client requirements shall take precedence over those of API-620 provided that basic design philosophy of API-620 is observed and minimum requirements of API-620 are met.

In addition to my above reply, for the requirements of NDE see para. 5.26 and table 5-2 and also 7.15 of the Code (API-620). For the required thickness of tank walls, roofs and bottoms see para. 5.9 and 5.10.For hydro and pneumatic test(s), see 7.18. I quote you all the references from API-620 Edition 10
, Feb 2002 because I have only this edition at home, in office I may be able to look some latest edition. For the coverage of the Code, see Chapter # 1 (Section 1), so that you may see if your tank falls under API-620 scope, I am not sure about temperature (both min and max) and other loadings, so see Section 1 carefully. If you need any further help, please let us know.

Seems there are 3 tanks in the process where chlorine goes thru a dilution process and is not necessarily just stored.
