Protective relays require reasonably accuratereproduction of the normal, tolerable, andintolerable conditions in the power system frocorrect sensing and operation.
This information input from the power system isusually through current and voltage transformers.
Some exceptions, such as temperature andvibration relays, which receive their informationfrom other type of transducers.
