Local Inspirational Author to Visit M-U Public Library

Gospel Quartet to Perform
At West Milton Church

The Milton-Union Public Library is pleased to host author Martha J. Doubledee for an author event and booksigning on Thursday, May 8, from 6:307:30 p.m. Marthas book, Marvelous Grace, is a very personal journal
filled with tragedy and triumph and is now in its third printing.
The book is the true story of the Doubledee family, who lost three sons
to drowning and later a grandson in a fire. The book is an autobiography with
lots of pictures, recounting the marvelous grace of God during the times of
greatest need.
Martha is a local author from Bradford. Please plan to join her for a book
reading and question and answer session. This event is FREE and open to
the public.

The West Milton Senior Citizens will hold their Annual Garage
Sale and Bake Sale Thursday and Friday, May 8 and 9. Thursdays
hours are 8 a.m. til 6 p.m., and Fridays hours are 8 a.m. til 4 p.m.
The sale will be held inside, so rain will not be an issue.
Profits from the sale will go toward senior activities. The center is

To Meet May 12
The Covington-Newberry Historical Society will meet Monday,
May 12, 7 p.m., at the Fort Rowdy Museum, 109 Spring St., Covington. Guest speakers Darlene Haines and Laura Burns will talk about
herb gardening.

Covington Art Show Slated May 8

Join us Thursday, May 8, 6-8 p.m., at Covington Elementary and High
School, for an Evening with the Arts. Kindergarten thru Grade 8 students
will display their artwork in the hallways of the elementary building. High
school student artwork will be displayed in the commons at the high school.
There will also be a musical performance in the high school gymnasium
from 7:30-9 p.m.
Student art ranging from Art 1 to Art 4 will be displayed, along with a
Silent Auction of Art Themed Football Helmets and an original drawing
of the CHS 2014 senior football team by freshman Jennifer Ozanich.
There will also be a Peoples Choice award for the publics favorite art
piece.
The Music Dept. will present performances from the 8th grade choir,
high school choir, 6th grade band, junior high band, high school band, and
jazz band. Each group will be performing a wide variety of music, and will
feature solo and guest performing artists at all levels.
Snacks and drinks will be available before the musical performance.

CHS Announces Athletic Hall of Fame Details

In 1984, the Covington Athletic Department initiated an Athletic Hall of Fame to honor
Covington graduates who have distinguished themselves in athletics. Over the past 31 years,
C.H.S. has inducted 78 members, 31 honorary members, one golf team, and two football
teams. This coming year marks the 32nd for this event.
This years Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Friday evening, August 29.
The ceremony itself will take place at half-time of the varsity football game with St. Henry.
The Hall of Fame induction will take place at approximately 8 p.m. The football game is
scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
Anyone wishing to submit a nomination should do so with a letter to the Athletic Director
detailing as much information as possible about the potential inductee. Deadline for nominations is May 19. Please address letters to:

Joyce Tebbe Joins Covington Family Care

Joyce Tebbe, ACNP, has joined Covington Family Care.
Ms. Tebbe attended Wright State University where she studied to
become an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She has worked in various
capacities over the past 25 years, both as a nurse practitioner in primary care as well as the specialty settings of cardiology and nephrology, and as a registered nurse in a cardiac catheterization lab and
intensive care unit. She has also participated in clinical research involving new medications and medical devices.
Ms. Tebbe is a longtime resident of Covington where she has
raised her three children.
She will join Dr. Guillermo (Bill) Trevino, M.D., at Covington
Family Care, located at 2600 Mote Dr.

Milton Memories Oral History

Session Scheduled May 13
The second of three spring Milton Memories oral history recording
sessions will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the West Milton
Municipal Building, located on S. Miami St.
The panel will continue to address the history of more Milton area
churches. The panel will consist of Pastor Todd Hammond, Highland
Brethren and Milton Church of the Brethren; Al Roark, Milton United
Church of Christ; Virginia Daum, Church of the Transfiguration; Jean
Hoover, Sugar Grove Bible Church; Gail Cope, Covenant at Sugar
Grove; and Pastor Jacob Kesling and Carl Trimble, Community Grace
Brethren.
The sessions are open to the public and audience participation is
encouraged. Sessions are on local access Channel 5. DVDs of all the
sessions are available for purchase and at the Milton-Union Public Library on loan.

Fort Rowdy Gathering Mothers Day

Chicken BBQ Announced
The Fort Rowdy Gathering will have their annual Mothers Day
Chicken BBQ on Sunday, May 11, in Covington Park, from 11
a.m. until 4 p.m. (or sold out).
No need to get out of your car well come to your car window!
Advance tickets are recommended, as last years BBQ was a sellout. The cost is $8, and includes half a chicken, chips, applesauce, and
a roll. Drinks will be available for purchase.
Advance tickets may be purchased at Joanies Flower Shop and
Siegels Country Store, both in Covington; Uniforms Plus, Piqua; or
from any Fort Rowdy Board member. Advance tickets are valid until
3 p.m.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the 2014 Fort Rowdy Gathering, to be held Labor Day Weekend.

Kids Nature Art Gallery Exhibit To Open at BNC

Opening Sunday, May 11, at 12:30 p.m., will be Brukner Nature
Centers Kids Nature Art Gallery Exhibit.
The staff thought it would be fun to showcase the centers next
generation by inviting the children of BNC staff and trustees to color
a couple of pages from Eric Carles famous tale, Hungry, Hungry
Caterpillar.

New Teen Event Starting at Milton Library

Teen Game Night will be held at the Milton-Union Public Library
the first Tuesday of each month, from 6-7 p.m., beginning May 6.
